Top Athlete Charities Lack Standards
I read an article a month or 2 ago about this same issue. This is just sickening. It seems like athletes start these 'charities' just so they can create high paying, little work jobs for their friends.

The moral of the story should be - if you (as a fan) are going to donate money, just give it directly to a charity, and not an athletes foundation.

RE: Top Athlete Charities Lack Standards
Good read and pretty disturbing.

A-Rod just isn't a good person:
Quote:Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez -- who signed a record-breaking $275 million contract in 2007 -- also had two foundations. Much like Moss' charities, both seem to have fizzled. It's hard to tell exactly what happened because neither foundation has filed a tax return since 2006, prompting the IRS in 2011 to revoke their tax-exempt statuses.
