RE: Predictions for next year's record?
I think 10-11 losses. I predict we will do better in the second games against our Big Metro rivals than the first meetings.

I'd be pretty happy with 7 losses

Probably a very good possibility. Not knowing the OOC schedule, I can see at least 5 or 6 conference losses next year. That might get better after Lville and Cuse and Rutgers leave.

One of my pet peeves is having those seasons that end in double digit losses. So, get ready Tigers, it's going to be tough next year.

Please be reminded this is a senior laden team that was a top 2 or 3 recruiting class in rank plus adding the # 2 recruiting class this year. lose 9 games in a depleted former Big East Conference that feature 6 teams from the C-USA. I just don't see 9 losses not with the talent we have and what is coming in.

The Big Metro will probably be split into 2 division.

UCF 1
East Carolina 1
South Florida 1
Rutgers 1
UCONN 1
Cincinatti 1

Temple 2
SMU 2
Tulane 2
Houston 2
Louisville 2
Memphis

Everybody's good!! If you don't believe that, you're living in the 1980s...

RE: Predictions for next year's record?
How the heck is everyone making predictions without seeing and semblance of a schedule or a roster for next season?

I thought the same thing. If these folks can predict the wins and losses for next year before we even know who will be here to play next year, and before next year's schedule is defined, then they should be rich as the dickens from predicting the stock market.

But, as I see it, a trick chicken pecking for corn probably has more chance of picking the wins and losses for next year's Tiger basketball team than any of the guessers on this board.

(BTW, I skipped right to the end of the thread to inject my comments. I was less than interested in the wild guesses being made here)

RE: Predictions for next year's record?
10-11 losses?

While playing a tougher overall conference schedule will result in more losses- and NOBODY has indicated otherwise, the idea that suddenly our kids, basically this year's team plus some really promising additions, will melt every time they play a conference game against the likes of a Louisville or Temple is crap.

Especially when those games come more often.

Unless Louisville somehow keeps Smith and others- Siva is a Senior- they will take a step down while we will be better than this year.

We will not lose many - barring bigger changes than expected- but when our kids do lose a conference game, the baiters will come out of the basements in force.

Even while everyone recognizes that playing more tough conference games will result in a few more losses.

Louisville has a Memphian on the roster and we know ex Memphian's have career nights when they play us

I just want to start the season unranked and finish the season to at least, AT LEAST the Elite 8.
That is what I am DEMANDING!

RE: Predictions for next year's record?
I was thinking 6-6 with a bowl invite.
Y'all need to get out of this basketball end all mentality.

As far as basketball probably 6-7 losses.
If it were the real big east probably 8-9.

RE: Predictions for next year's record?
We go 12-3 against a tough nonconference schedule, and 14-2 in conference play for a 26-5 regular season mark. The Tigers then lose the championship game of the inaugural Metro Conference Tournament, but leverage the experience into a run to the Elite 8 in the NCAA tournament and end up a satisfactory 31-7 for the year. Among pundits and experts, there is infighting between those who recognize that the Tigers are steadily getting stronger, and other who claim that we still play in a weak conference.

Some change their tune before the season when DJ Stephens is picked by the Grizzlies late in the first round of the NBA draft. Believers start to outweigh doubters when Stephens averages 22 pts, 13 rebounds and 8 blocks per game in his first pro season.

That's what, 23-9? Sounds pessimistic I guess, but I think we'll have a number of quality wins in there. I think that's probably a worst-case scenario overall, but who knows?

I think that's a good, realistic, successful target. And even with the increased losses we will have 5-7 or more quality wins.
