RE: Will Hudspeth be issuing an apology to Ga Southern and App State?
Fellas this is the way I feel about it:
I am a Southern fan and I am so glad we are in the Sun Belt. Not going to thump my chest or make bold predictions cause honestly fellas nobody here is gonna be impressed by our school or our team until and unless we do something on the field. I hope we continue to play Southern football and if we do I'm sure good things will happen in time.
To all the fans of the established Sun Belt teams that are unhappy now well. Wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! I mean really. We are moving up from the lowest tier of D-1 to the lowest conference in the upper tier. Again I'm happy to be here but that's what it is and that's what it was before we were here. If it wasn't we wouldn't be here. You talk about your team moving up now because we have weakened conference. It seems those that could already have and I bet all the schools left put out feelers before we were even a possibility. Maybe they don't want you? Maybe they do and if so I hope you're happy if you get to move up to better digs. Where did your program come from? We are now where a lot of you were not very long ago. I hope whoever is eventually left with us makes the most of it and as a conference we put good football on the field. I promise that's all Georgia Southern wants to do and all we ever have done.

Eagles as for Hudpucker or whatever his name is apologizing. Who gives a s**t? We've had far worse said about us and he doesn't owe us crap.

You had no competition for the invite. Tough to say that they felt you were a worthy addition if the options are you or Liberty.

And the rest of your post was just... well, absurd, so I didn't bother to repost it.

But there's no threat implied. I HOPE every conference member goes undefeated (except for one loss... to us, of course). I know it's not even mathematically possible, but you get the point.

What people are taking issue with is not even YOUR school (or App State, even). It's the situation. As of now, a potential of 50% of the conference will be FBS new (I'm counting us and USA in that group). A pair of those NOT FBS new are the two worst programs in FBS. That's NOT a strong conference. I don't care how special you think the triple option is. I don't care how special you think the win over Michigan was. I don't care if Fran is the second coming of Christ. It takes time to get to FBS level, regardless of if you think you're the best thing since sliced bread.

I honestly feel bad for Troy, Louisiana, ULM, & ASU. This is not something easy to sell to their fanbase or donors.

And the constant blustering about how great your teams are only serves to irritate the FBS "old" even further. You tout how many yards you put on whatever FBS team, thinking they actually paid attention to the game that week. FBS teams scheme for their next FBS team during FCS game week. Why? Because they know on general principle, they can run base offense and defense to win (due to the size and depth difference between FBS/FCS).

Basically, the constant blathering of ignorance about how great you are going to be in 2014 just gets old.

The straw that broke the camel's back was Idaho at all and NMSU for football only. It had nothing to do with our FCS move-ups. I still think App State, Ga Southern, and TXST are going to end up being improvements.

Our lineup....as long as UL is still in it. Is fine with me. Except for the Idaho/NM thing and that Idaho/NM thing makes me want to get out.
Agree...I actually preferred to go after the Eastern fcs schools....long term it is a better investment for the Conference...would have added NMST in all sports in spite of the travel because they bring a fine basketball and baseball program to the fold. James Madison, if added and APP ST will not exactly be travel friendly for those of us in the West.. Georgia Southern also adds good baseball to the league as does App ST. If James Madison accepts then we get another good basketball program....Yes we are trying to move on but as long as we are in the Belt then we need to make sure that it is the best that it can be...

RE: Will Hudspeth be issuing an apology to Ga Southern and App State?
Good grief....I wish some of our fans would stop with all of the entitlement. I'm very excited about the move, and part of that is to be able to play against current Sun Belt teams that have had success here. Do I think we will be competitive? Sure, and I don't apologize for thinking that...but I also realize that feeling that way is completely meaningless until we actually play some of these games. I also realize that being competitive is completely different from winning or dominating an opponent. This guy needs to offer no apology. If anyone needs to do any apologizing, it's likely a few of our fans that feel so entitled for respect for games that haven't even been played yet.

And this continual Bama game reference....sure, sure we did a pretty good job against them, but how much did that help us against Citadel last year? Or heaven forbid, even against App at home last year?

We've all been wanting a chance to move up, and now we finally have it. I think we are in a good position to build a successful program here at this level, but getting better requires competition that is equal to or better than you currently are. I'm happy about the move, but damn....let's show a little respect ourselves if we are reasonably going to expect to get any from anyone else.

Let's talk about football, about the conference etc, rather than turning every thread into a pissing match over who can thump their chests the loudest.

With all that said, Go Eagles! GATA! 04-cheers

I've never seen an FCS transitional team with the (undeserved) ego and arrogance that Georgia Southern fans seem to have.

Your first year in the Belt will be interesting.

Don't classify an entire fanbase because of a few message board posters. We aren't all delusional, arrogant and ignorant.

Unless the Sun Belt can persuade current members of other FBS conferences to come aboard (an unlikely prospect), the pool of possible new members is made up of current FCS members. Georgia Southern, Appalachian State, Sam Houston State and Lamar have been mentioned — mentions that stick in Hudspeth’s craw.

“I’m not favoring turning this into a ‘take all the I-AA’ league,” he told the Advertiser. “I’m not interested in that route whatsoever.”
Apparently, the only way to avoid that is for the Cajuns to join the departed, and Savoie and Farmer made veiled references to that in their Thursday statement.

Hud has nothing to apologize for! The Sunbolt has turned into a not ready for prime time 1-AA start ups league. I predict that ASU and UL will be the next to go, in the very near future. I hope Troy will follow after us. Troy deserves better than the Sunbolt.

I personally think the SBC will be a good football league. I also think ULM and Troy are here for a while and I don't have much problem with that. The teams in this conference will develop into very good FBS teams and footballwise we have a chance to be better than CUSA. Honestly with the G5, it doesn't matter much what lower tier conference you are in. I'm glad to have a home. We will be very good this year in football and we must continue to do the most we can with a little. Welcome to all the new members and Cajuns lets not turn this into a name thread please.

For those of you that care to listen, this is what MOST of of our fans think. There are a few that think we would give he SEC a run for their money. Don't worry though, we ignore them most of the time too. 04-cheers

I just hope Huds does not lose to a I-AA team in 2014. After his comments and the Cajuns displeasure for I-AA teams, they would have to fire him. He's a good coach and I'd hate to see this happen.

I just hope Benson gives us a shot at them at Paulson in 2014 so we can set the record straight. We will have a new huge video board in 2014. A pre game apology from Huds to the Ga Southern players and fans would suffice.

Once again, start noticing the trends of our posters. What you refer to as Georgia Southern fans can really be traced to very few people. This guy is the primary offender. Most of us are hopeful that we'll have early success but are not expecting dominance of any kind.

Tell everyone a secret. If App State and Georgia Southern had their preferences, we would both have gone to the SEC.
I know, it's hard to believe. But you guys that have been left in the Sun Belt are not the only ones that want something
other than what you have. If you can talk Alabama and LSU to come to the SB fine. If not don't tell us we are not wanted
because you wanted things to stay the same. If we are the best you could get, then that's the way it is. And I don't want
an apology, that's the way he thinks, he has a right to think the way he does, as do you.

You should apologize to the other Eagle fans here for making us seem like Georgia State posters on AGS a couple of years ago.
