RE: Spring practice updates
This HuskieWire article says Marckie Hayes is number two at cornerback behind Sean Evans so I guess the other side is Jhony Faustin and Marlon Moore. That looks like a prety good group.

While I don't entirely disagree with anything you are saying about Schiller, the guy is playing in the NFL which last time I checked is a good gauge for talent. Schiller could fly all over the field, he just made really bad reads at times at NIU.
I knew somebody was going to bring that up, but I stand by what I said. I don't think he was very good at NIU. He also came off the field a ton on passing downs in favor of Santa, so evidently the coaches agreed with me.

Kill played Butler over him (as a freshman), he came off the field in favor of Santa (as a freshman) as a Senior, just don't think he was very good.

Kill also played Me'co over Spann for way too long.

That's a fair point. I don't think anybody thought Schiller should have been playing over Butler though, did you?

Schiller did have that whole injury thing, that hampered his playing time

I thought Butler was more of a playmaker than Schiller. But also thought Schiller was decent, didn't hurt us, played hard. Kill just had a thing for his own recruits, sometimes to the team's detriment.

RE: Spring practice updates
I was there for the last half of practice today.

Showed up right when they started 7 on 7's. First play, Tommy Lee burned Ward for a long pass that would have been a TD if it was a game. 2nd play, Ward picked off Lynch and ran it to the 3 before Lynch tackled him.

Focused on the places we lost starters, obviously this will probably change but Moore and Evans were the #1 corner. Boomer was out with an injury and Santa was playing MLB with Bass and Lemon (not Cotton) outside. I think Santa is in for a hell of a year no matter where he plays. He deflected a couple passes today, one which brought the praise of Carey. He just has a nose for the ball.

Ford is still an DE, and he looked damn good doing it. Rainey/Windsor are the #1 ends. Bishop looked great as well.

They were doing some different things personnel wise. I'm not sure if it's because they lack bodies right now (Miller and Glasper were both out and obviously we are very thin at RB), but they had guys lining up in places you didn't see them lining up last year. If I had to guess after seeing one practice, I think Cole will call the plays this year, but that's pure speculation on my part.

Brown/A.J./Lewis were the top 3 WRs. Tommy lined up all over the field. I thought Brinlee/A.J./Canada all looked good. Brinlee caught a long TD pass from McIntosh and Canada beat Marckie for a bomb down the sidelines.

It was nice to see the new coaches out there. Diersen and Sigler are nowhere near as vocal as Nielsen and McNutt were. Doesn't mean they're worse, just less vocal. I'll be pretty shocked if Olaitan Oguntodu doesn't have a paying gig on the staff next year or whenever he can no longer be a GA.

Good to hear that Ford looked good at DE......you WIN with D! I'm still concerned about RB position......I'm hoping for production out of Bowers. I believe we'll be OK at the WR position.
Bottom line: Tommy Lee is a PLAYMAKER! I expect great things frm him this year

RE: Spring practice updates
Da'Ron has looked really good, and AJ has been extremely crisp from the looks of things. Individually not as talented as last year's group and big shoes to fill, but collectively these guys will do a good job. Tommylee is gonna score 10 tds through all facets of his game next year I'm thinking.

RE: Spring practice updates
I think our receiving corps will be different, but just as effective as last year's. AJ and Brinlee are solid athletes, with great hands, that run precise routes. Tommy Lee is our game changer, and Brown is as fast as anyone on the team. Add in the mix a few of our big bodies, and this can be a area strength this season. Based on the highlight films, practice notes, and various other sources....the Husain kid is a force at OT; Bass and Santa have both added size and speed; Windsor and Bishop are poised for dominant seasons; a lot less noise and a lot more technique at practice; the RB back up role is up for grabs; #6 remains the key to our success. Thanks 7 for the practice updates...good stuff!

RE: Spring practice updates
I know it's still early, but it seems that Cotton may not be a factor again this year at LB. Maybe they should redshirt him this year if he isn't going to start. Other than depth at LB are there any other negatives?

My bet is he finds himself in the LB rotation this year. He may not start but he's in the rotation.

RE: Spring practice updates
If Stingily is not at least the #3 RB coming out of the Spring does anyone think that he will stay?...or maybe could he get moved again?

Don't really know if he is a guy that is used in specific situations.

Brinlee looked good the few times I saw him last year. Maybe he's a playmaker like some of the other guys. We can use the depth.
