Its not the number, per se, it's the states that you would have us believe are the only ones wanting out also include democratic ones.

The nation is in the toilet, the government is eliminating the Bill of Rights one by one, and people want to use race as a reason why some states are thinking that they might be better off on their own. That's real intelligent. IMO most people would feel the same no matter who was President...

He's an idiot that deals with theory, man. In his world, Communism works. He has NEVER had a job outside academia. Kinda like his idol in the White House.

How ignorant is this... Secession has been thrown out there at various times since the union was formed. Texas even wrote it into their Constitution. Last MAJOR push I recall was over energy... I guess in your mind, that's because black men started driving cars.
There has been no other "major" push. That's completely moronic. The fringe groups promoting secession for Texas didn't pick up any significant membership or visibility until 2009. Guess what happened that year? Yep... black man in the White House. Combine that with the MASSIVE demographic shift taking place in Texas, and the bigots are in full meltdown mode trying to figure out what to do.
Grad, Your ignorance knows no bounds. The only difference is that you (and the media) didn't pay any attention until there was a black man in the white house. In 1979, SECEDE bumper stickers were quite popular.
I know, Reb. Thanks

The 1979 movement went far beyond bumper stickers.

http://thescoopblog.dallasnews.com/2012/...oday.html/

Interestingly, the 1979-era movement is pretty much ignored in this discussion, which nevertheless provides clear indications that the movement predated a black man in the white house (and yes, it's Wikipedia, but sources are well footnoted):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_secession_movements

Texas Monthly also devoted a significant portion of one issue during the 1979-1980 time frame to the subject and a related issue, splitting Texas into five states in accordance with a provision of the admission treaty, in order to get greater senate representation. I don't have a link since that predates commercial Internet. The joke at the time was that the split would never happen because nobody could agree on who got the Alamo.

How many remember, "I'm mad too, Eddie"?

Thanks for finding those links, Owl... I wasn't going to justify his worthless complaints and couldn't remember Eddie Chiles.... but i remember the movement quite vividly. Interestingly, I don't remember the recent ones in the Wiki article... but that makes sense as one was associated with the Branch Davidians that few in the state really gave the time of day, but Janet Reno and the liberals certainly did... For those that don't know, Texas monthly is no "fringe" magazine in the state... and there it is, on the cover...

At least thus far, I would say the 1979 movement was much more widespread than anything I've seen so far this time. Texans probably hated Jimmy Carter more than Obama, primarily because Carter had his head wedged way far up his @$$ on energy policy--and Carter was very white last time I checked.

So true.

Hey Grad, I heard there was a tea party...I mean KKK rally in Memphis. Sounds like the KKK is using the black man in the White House to expand their recruiting.

Show me Klan members at any Tea Party rally, you jacka**. I have, however, seen bLack pAnthers, Communist bastards, Socialists, etc. at leftist rallies, ALL of which want the destruction of this nation. Actually it's a very common occurrence.
Look at the pictures of yourself at a tea party rally.

Quite telling that that is all you progressive fools have these days, with no economic positives to talk about anymore. Well, actually, you never did.

Like unemployment down, deficit down, stocks up, housing prices up, consumer confidence up, durable goods up? Having a black man in the White House has caused all the bigots to lose their grip on reality.

pot meet kettle.

The fact you interjected racism into the conversation tells all anyone needs to know about you. You have no cred now Grad. You exposed yourself for the racist you are.

"Labels" are the weapons of the left.

I have taught my boys to think beyond the easy path of compliance, and they (and I ) would gladly look down upon you in disgust, when passing you pushing your shopping cart in the street. We loathe you, and your beliefs, and look forward to the day that our destinies are no longer comingled.

American citizens of proper moral fiber never signed up to be voluntold (through the tax system) to support the parasites of this once great country. I claim no care nor responsibility for those that make decisions that limit their economic viability, and only ask that we be left to our own future, independent of societal parasite burden.

And neither race, religion, nor sexual oreintation has any bearing on this basic tenet.
