But guess what? We're on the upswing.

This year we have:
- Set a record for most victories in one year
- Set a record for most victories in a three-year stretch
- Recorded our first-ever non-conference tournament postseason victory (yes, CIT, shut up)

Also, later this year we will:
- Open our new $15 million practice facility
- Return four starters (one was a medical redshirt this year)

No, we don't match up to Memphis or UConn. But we're on the right track.

Dude....you don't have to defend anything!

Improve your program like the rest of have by investing in facilities, hiring and retaining a solid coach and engaging your fanbase to show up support your kids. This whole chip on your shoulder routine ECU fans seem to compulsively demonstrate needs to go away.

Good grief.....

Our University was founded due to a group of people with a chip on their shoulders. That attitude is ingrained in us.

I will put ECU's investment in facilities over the last 5 years or so up against just about anyone in the conference. I will not go into the fan support issue as ECU supports their athletic programs just as good if not better than most in the league. As far as coaches go...That is a hit and miss prospect for most programs, as you should know very well. Right now I feel very confident in the coaches running our programs except for Baseball but I think that will be handled after this season.

What gets me is how some people like to poo-poo on ECU basketball and while that was well deserved in the past I think we get a bit of a bad wrap compared to some of the other basketball programs getting ready to join the league. We have more than held our own against several of the other schools coming on board.

As far as the "chip on the shoulder" deal...You are 100% wrong. That is how ECU has made it to where we are...ECU is much better when we remember where we came from and the hurdles we had to overcome using that very chip you are talking about.

I have wished ECU good luck as well as commented on the noticeable improvements all while managing to refrain from commenting on schools west of the mississippi.

That's official? Damn, guess I'm out of the loop. Hopefully the new roof won't decrease the noise level too much, but the video screens are MUCH needed. Any timetable?

Yes, that's why the $$ amount for the practice facility jump from 15 million to 17 million. But the facelift is closer to the 7 million dollar mark. The practice facility itself only cost 10 million, improvements were already included in the price. The roof and scoreboard are new. Minges was built (1994 renovation) with a roof that could be easily removed and redesigned later, a move that saved us millions today.

Lets see, you're the same guy calling for a truce in another thread. You destroyed another thread to the point it was moved to the smack board. Batting .1000 with the ECU hate today. Go out and buy yourself a cookie ( if you're old enough to drive) .

I am just asking for the day where I will see the #60 recruit pick ECU over Duke, UNC, and UCLA. We managed well with being able to do that. Temple does it. Why can't everyone else do it.

Honestly I do not give a damn about recruiting rankings...That is a dog and pony show for the most part anyway. I want to see the day where we smack you guys in the mouth on the court where it counts.

Yes, I do not think Memphis is as good as you think you are. Sure you guys have a good program but as we have all seen just about every program has its down periods.

All while reading these type remarks as well as the negative comments toward our football program.

Please list all recruits Memphis has landed that held firm offers from UNC or Duke. Since you insinuate that the numbers are quite high since you've "managed so well" , please list them in chronological and alphabetical order.

No offense meant for our regular Memphis posters. ( this does not mean you, king)

Only thing I have ever really ragged on ECU is (beyond their control) the pain in the neck travel. And that was just from what I heard. But, on a recent business trip, I went from Raleigh (easily flyable) to Greenville, after I landed, and it is a pretty easy drive.

I'm glad they are going to put on a new roof. I was almost killed because of a combination of my stupidity and the design of that dang roof. Back in 79 or 80 there was a Outlaws/Jimmy Buffett concert. When we got there it was standing room only and security kept making our group move out of the isles. There was nowhere to sit so we eventually made our way to the top and hopped up on the ledge at the roof line, leaning back with our butts sitting on what turned out to be unsecured roof overhang. Suddenly it gave way and our butts were outside the building. Fortunately leaning against the roof we didn't fall. The girl beside me, shorter than me almost flipped over and out but I grabbed her and pulled her back. Unfortunately one guy was laying across rather than leaning back and he fell from the top of the inside of Minges to the sidewalk outside below. But given the fact that he was four sheets in the wind he was loose enough to not break anything. It should have killed him but God protects drunks and fools. Good luck with the roof!

It is an easy drive....interstate the entire way. ECU teams use the GTP airport in Kinston that is much closer but doesn't get many commercial flights. I did see Air Force one practicing touch and go landings there a couple of weeks ago.

Just an FYI, that roof from 79/80 was removed in 94. Same hight, but different design. That could not happen today.

Please list all recruits Memphis has landed that held firm offers from UNC or Duke. Since you insinuate that the numbers are quite high since you've "managed so well" , please list them in chronological and alphabetical order.

No offense meant for our regular Memphis posters. ( this does not mean you, king)

I really using those schools as examples but these guys were conveyed by blue bloods and memphis reeled them on. Austin Nichols, nick king, Markel Crawford, shaq Goodwin, Adonis Thomas, Geron johnson(Kansas was after him), kuran Iverson, joe Jackson, Adonis Thomas, jalen Kendrick, joe Jackson, will Barton, Elliot Williams, tyreke Evans, Wesley Witherspoon, D Rose, Shawn Williams, Darius Washington and ect.....

Glad to hear it. I wouldn't want that to happen to anyone else.
