Boeheim says he'll still be coaching in '14-'15 season.
Boeheim is laying retirement rumors to rest for now. He told current 'Cuse 2014 commit Chris McCullough that he'd still be coaching when he gets to campus.
Quote:“I’m excited about the future,” Boeheim said. “We’ve got one of our better recruiting classes coming. We’ve got commitments from underclassmen that I think are very, very good players.”
It very well could be just sweet talking. McCullough is the most highly rated recruit to commit to Syracuse since Carmelo Anthony. I tend to think that Boeheim's telling the truth, though.
More about it can be read here. Along with 'Cuse commit Ron Patterson making his disdain for Indiana clear.

It seems like the ACC will get a taste of Boeheim for at least two seasons.

There was some talk about him on sports radio here in Raleigh. The questions was if he would ever coach in the ACC.
I think he will coach at least a couple of years in the ACC. It would be nice to say he won conference championships in 2 major conferences and just maybe national championships in 2 major conferences.

My personal opinion would be that Boeheim will coach 2-3 years before he actually starts thinking seriously of retirement. He will want to see the ACC move thru so there will be no transition for his predecessor who ever that may be, but who knows he may do it for another 5-7 before he pulls the plug.

I hear a lot of Hop's interest in USC stems from the fact that his dad is in California, and he isn't doing well. It's tough to keep a guy under those conditions, but I wouldn't be suprised if he was receptive to coming back east after a couple of years. I think that he has a very high opinion of the university given that he went here, he has coached here, and a lot fo the reason why he is even considering leaving has to do with a family crisis. The idea of Hop getting some HC experience at USC and then coming back to Syracuse and hopefully keeping the rest of the staff intact is very appealing. That said, I hope his dad pulls through, or at least hangs in there, depending on the nature of the medical problem.

California may be a good thing. They may have told Hopkins(?) something like, "if you want to take over you need to prove you can be a successful head coach." That is not to say he hasn't been a successful HC in the past. They may want to see if he still has it.
That appears to be what is happening at Duke as well.
