Agreed, that was a great league. I loved the Football games with Louisville, TCU, UC, Southern Miss etc.. and Basketball was something else with Louisville, Marquette, DePaul, Memphis, St. Louis, Charlotte, UC coming to Minges. Sad it came to an end because it was a very solid Conference. CUSA 2.0 to its credit survived and thrived when most people wrote it off.
All the more reason to absolutely HATE the ACC.
No, CUSA should not hate anyone including ACC. Rather, we work with them to further CUSA goals. The ODU/NC State home and home series is a good example.

Disagree. The ACC is the reason CUSA 1.0 broke up to begin with. I hate everything about the ACC and want nothing to do with them. I don't even care to play them in football or basketball even though it would be an attendance bonanza. Of course, I'm a little jaded being from NC.

The MWC had some misfires when they formed like excluding TCU and including UNLV and New Mexico. I think we can all look at the nBE and pick the programs we think time will prove as their misfires.
Maybe because TCU hadn't quite come back to life by the time the Airport meeting happened and UNLV, while a bad football program, is an iconic college basketball program that was less than a decade (and really, only a little more than 5 years) removed from their glory era. Plus it gave them access to the exciting Las Vegas market and the inside track to hosting the MWC Tournament in Vegas, which they have done for all but a handful of seasons.
New Mexico, while not as exciting, is a state flagship of a mid-sized state that at the time actually had a very solid basketball program, granted they disappointed in the first weekend of the NCAA Tournament as much then as they do now. Given where TCU was as a program and how much fan support they had as a small religious school in a pro sports market, I'd say the MWC got it right short of hindsight being 20/20. That, not to mention UNM had some history with the Airport 5 and was geographically closer to the core of the league.
You got everything right except TCU isn't a religious school in any shape or form. Don't let the middle name fool you. We are no more religious than USC or Duke--we are not like byu or even baylor.

I don't know why...actually, I have two theories. First, Oklahoma is a small state and there is a tighter bond within it. Second, Tulsa is the only other IA football playing school in the state and not like Texas, Florida, California, or North Carolina where there are more than 1 NonAQ school. But anyway, Oklahoma U regularly schedules Tulsa in football and OSU would like to do the same but TU has so far declined to play OSU. I know the reason. OSU is a cheapskate and prefers to pay $350,000 to a school like Savannah State. It drives Cowboy fans crazy OSU playing schools that is basically boring roadkill.
