O/T: A-10 Basketball
I know they are losing a bunch of schools mostly to the Big East (Temple is an exception).
Are they adding any new schools, other than George Mason?

Unless something unforeseen happens, Siena should be announced as joining in 2014. The announcement is expected to occur before the end of June. It remains to be seen what the A10 will do if/when SLU and Dayton or Richmond leave for the nBE. There has been communication between the A10 and Davidson and Iona, and allegedly CofC as well. I don't think a decision has been made whether the A10 will stay a 12 or return to 14 at that point.

There was a tweet recently saying the A10 is looking to add Davidson, Delaware and Northeastern to the conference.

Sounds reliable.
I've seen people who cover the A10 talk about Sienna. I highly doubt the league has any interest in Delaware.

Yes there was. It came from Hofstra's beat writer. He's the only person in anywhere in the media to mention Delaware and Northeastern as candidates. That's because he's most likely reciting FUD from Hofstra's AD's office. I can assure you that the A10 has no interest in Delaware or Northeastern. They're trying to do what they can to mitigate the damage caused by the departures of Temple et al. They aren't planning on pouring gasoline on the fire by inviting two lousy basketball programs. Nor is there any evidence that Delaware is interested in the A10 for that matter. Siena will be the next team invited to the A10.

I can see St. Louis and Dayton but not Richmond.
I had not heard about Siena (good reason for me to start the thread, I guess).

My best guess is that it will be Dayton. However, there have been reports in the media that Georgetown is pushing for member 12 to be in the east and that they are advocating strongly for Richmond in particular. There have been some rumors that there is some interest in VCU, but in the end, I think they are unlikely to be invited.
Jon Rothstein and other reasonably well-informed media members have been mentioning GMU and Siena as the two schools that will be invited this year. Of course, you really don't have to have access to privileged information to know that those two schools best fit what the A10 is looking for in new members.

I don't understand how Dayton hasn't been invited yet. I believe I read recently it was the largest RC university in the country. It also has a very respectable bball history.

Not even close.

UD total enrollment is about 11,000, with about 7,500 undergrads.
By contrast, Xavier has about 6,600 total with 4,600 of those undergrads.
UD is a natural for the BE, though. Huge rivalry with Xavier. I doubt they want to break that up.

We're hoping they take Dayton (and Saint Louis) instead of one of the Richmond area teams, since that would make the geography less complicated for us. However, that would give the Big East 7 western teams and 5 eastern teams, so I suspect there's going to be at least one more push to choose Richmond or VCU instead and make it 6/6.
The A10 doesn't really need to make a move. Sure, we've lost 4 and probably will lose 6 teams, but we had 16 to begin with. A conference called the "Atlantic 10" with 10 teams in it isn't a crazy idea. Of course, they've already added Mason, so it's going to be 11 and probably 12, unless they think UMass is leaving. But there's absolutely no indication that's happening up in UMass country.
