Not really. The big prize they "really" eyeball at the end of the day is UNC.

Yep that's who they really want, and if they are able to shake them loose then the whole ACC could completely collapse. They are the Texas of the ACC. If they hold firm I expect the whole ACC to hold firm. If they bolt everyone with any option is out.

UAB INVITED TO THE NEW ACC! Yay Wake Forest.

I agree, except I think North Carolina goes to the Big 10 with Virgina.....the remaining ACC absorbs most of the new, old Big East for a 16 team league.

RE: Predictions.....
I predict that in 5-7 years all the "have not conferences" realize that there isn't a reason to have conferences that scatter several time zones. They realize that the gap between Us and Them is too great. They make the decision to create 5 to 6 regional conferences for financial reasons. Then that starts a new shuffle of schools but only with the "have nots".

MWC adds some CUSA West schools and maybe Houston and SMU.
MAC stays the same.
CUSA East and Conf No Name merge with only some of the schools.
CUSA East and Conf No Name left overs create a new conference.
SBC stays the same.
If there are too many teams out west for MWC a new Western Conference might emerge.

RE: Predictions.....
As texas emerges as its own conference known as the mwc. All other conferences will gain from that movement alone.

RE: Predictions.....
Or... CUSA East and West split and start their own conferences.
if CUSA East can snag SoMiss and LaTech they'd be set.

Dude, you can try and create this false equivalency between CUSA and the A12 until you're blue in the face, but it's just not true. UNT is not UH. ODU is not ECU. If nothing else, look at bowl games. The defectors have all been to real bowl games like the Sugar, Sun, Capital One, Liberty, and Independence Bowl. There's a Heisman trophy in the moving van, too.

The expansion teams have almost no history at that level. And unless/until they get out of CUSA , they'll have zero opportunity to build a history at that level. Are we all "have nots?" Perhaps... but I would rather play on Saturday before 50,000 than play on Thursday before 20,000.

I'd rather not schedule teams that don't even exist yet at all, FFS. If that happens, after all we've done, people need to get fired. People very may get fired at USM, although the real culprits are long gone.

We can stop talking about this just as soon as posts like yours dry up. Then, posts like mine will dry up, too.

After following all of this for the last 15 years, every message board is the same. All you have to do is change the name. The same crap will be posted on every one of them. It is practically comical. The more things change...

RE: Predictions.....
I also predict we will continue to be called the new Sun Belt even though nine of the 14 teams in CUSA never played a down of SBC football (Marshall, UAB, USM, UTEP, Rice, LA Tech, UTSA, ODU, & UNCC). 64 % of the league.
