RE: CULLOP RUMOR?????
Everyone has made some good points.....I think this will be the discussion at the end of every season....will Coach Cullop return for the next season....for now everything are rumors...sometimes I wonder who creates them....it certainly isn't anyone who knows because she isn't the kind of person , who would share anything with anyone before she shared it with her players...
Some food for thought......the reason they are rumors is because no one other the coach and athletic director would know anything about her interviewing or leaving....let's stop letting rumors spread and be thankful that she has been our coach for five years ...hopefully more...nothing would have been made public as early as the rumors started floating around...
She has to much class to allow her players to find out from anyone other herself....once they would be informed the information would leak out to the rest of us....considering the size of the fan base ....it is logical to think her players have been asked about the rumors....if the rumors were true, it would have come out along time ago....
She would be a great coach no matter where she is.....for now ...hopefully for a long time..... we are have a great coach on our side.........
One never knows what will happen.... we can feel pride in our team and the part all of you have played....

There is no comparing the state of the men's program when we switched coaches the past 2 times, to the state of the women's program right now.
Obviously...Coach K probably dreams of eventually getting his program to that level...but, if Coach Cullop were to leave, aren't any of the incoming recruits permitted by the NCAA to be released from their letters of intent? If so, that's the point I was making--that we cannot afford to have 2, 3 or all 4 incoming freshmen decide not to come here if Coach were to leave. Not on the heels of only having 2 freshmen this season...Now, if they can't change their mind & go somewhere else, then my fears (should Coach Cullop even choose to leave) would be thankfully unfounded.
They can only be released from the LOI if UT agrees to it (I believe). But my point in saying that the state of the women's program is way better than what the men's was, is that, if/when Coach Cullop leaves, the program is in good enough shape that players will most likely want to stay committed to UT and not go anywhere else.
I know that Matt Smith and Rian Pearson played a year at Green Bay, transferred to UT, sit out a year and then had 3 years eligibility at UT. I would assume that recruits could sit out a year and still have 4 years eligibility left---in fact I believe that is exactly what Elena Delle Donne did when she transferred from UConn to Delaware after about a week in school at UConn. If Inma came in as a true freshman (which I am NOT sure of) then I assume she could transfer and sit out a year as well if she were so inclined to do so and still have two years left.

Gail Goestenkors was the head coach of the #4 ranked Duke Blue Devils that paid a visit to Savage in the 1990's and left with a loss.

I would be surpirsed if Tricia gets serious consideration. I think that she would be a stretch pick, a little risky for the AD at Ohio State. More likely to pick someone from a major conference.

I agree. The more and more we hear/read about the 0$U search, it seems like Coach Cullop not high up on their list. But 0$U would be dumb not to interview her since she is so close and successful.

Word from C-bus is Coach C accepted an offer today to become the new head coach for the Buckeyes. April 1 will go down as a dark day in Rocket sports history.

Very funny. Seriously, I think Coach C has done great at UT but didn't osu just fire someone more successful than her? Why would you fire a guy for not getting deep into the tournament and replace him with someone who's never been to the tournament? Some of us may be confusing our (sometimes creepy) love of the Rockets with reality. Again, this is not to denigrate what she's done here, I think it's terrific, but from osu's perspective ...?

Hopefully this is someone's idea of a sick April fool's joke on all of us (including on H2O). They had a lot of NCAA experienced coaches on their interview list and, despite Coach Cullop's many accomplishments, NCAA experience (as a head coach) is not among them. I'm with rkt on this one.

Well, there was a related article that Syd Finch would be named pitching coach for the Rockets.

Yeah, why hire someone with little or no big time experience. Jim Tressel won a lot of bowl games before he was hired.

I doubt Coach C would compromise her values to win games which, incidentally, is a job requirement at osu

Seems rumor of Cullop's departure was somewhat premature. Gail Goestenkors was a long time Duke coach, then accepted HC position at Texas, which seemed ill-fated from the beginning, and now looks destined to be OHST's next coach, per link above.
She was in several Final Fours with Duke, and played Toledo in 2001(?) when the Rockets defeated Duke, with a young Alana Beard on board.
The rumor was an April Fools joke.
