Teykl is a definite guy in the lineup going forward. Would really like Ewing to stay in as well. It'll be an interesting decision, especially if Teykl could play outfield, if Aquino remains at DH and Ewing/Fox at 1B. I would think that offense trumps everything at this point; it's almost a necessity to have our best 9 guys in the lineup and get them all hitting at least .250 or above.

What is Hoelscher's status? I seem to remember he was likely out about 5-6 weeks. If that's correct, Shane's 3-4 weeks from returning. That's a long time. These things have a way of working themselves out. I bet the players involved make the choice fairly clear.

I thought the initial estimate was 6-8 weeks, but that was 4 weeks ago this coming Saturday. Here's hoping Shane is back when I'm next in town for the UCF series and Texas Tech mid-weekers.

SHSU defeated the mighty Coogs tonight 4-1.

Perhaps the best team in Texas is in Huntsville.

You mean the best mid-week team on Texas.

Sam is a solid team. I've seen them against Rice and SFA in the last two weeks. Strong starting pitching is keeping them on track. They have 4-5 quality starters which gives them a punch in mid-week games that not all schools have. Plus, Sam places strong emphasis on those mid-week games to strengthen their RPI in hopes of earning an invite to a regional in case they do not win their conference. They are definitely a solid if not strong team to be reckoned with on the national level.

I'd like to think so. We started out pretty slow this season because of some bad relief pitching but we seem to have gotten that swagger back in the last couple of weeks in going 7-2 in the last 9 games, with 2 wins against top 20 teams (Y'all and UH). Last year we got hot around the same time, and eventually worked our way up in the rankings to #20.

Now that conference games have started, I'm looking forward to blowing away our competition. Our RPI will take a hit because of the SLC though.
