I was in attendance at the BB game between LSU and Bama when "Pistol Pete" Maravich scored 69 points in a losing cause. That 69 was without 3 point shots or "jams" which were not yet legal. It was a truly outstanding performance.
That jogs my memory. I think I was there, too. Was that game in Tuscaloosa? And it seems like I remember Pistol Pete shooting the bird at a referee when the referee had his back turned, and the crowd went nuts trying to tell the referee that he shot a bird at him? Maravich was cocky.
