Hey Alum
Did you get to see the ladies game Friday night? I'd sure like to hear your thoughts about the game.

RE: Hey Alum
How much did we save by playing on the road. I'm sure it cost us as least the $10,000 to get everyone out to the game.
And we would have probably won a game or two at home. Maybe once again we were penny wise and pound foolish. Do I recall $35,000 to host a home game. Well, if that was the case, the net cost would have only been $25,000 which might have been worth it.

Hey Alum
According to the wnit website it costs 6500 to host a first round game.
I did see most of the game but it wasn't a good quality and there were times he game stop showing. The ladies look very rusty and jittery the first part of the game and committed a lot of unforced turnovers. They eventually got settled. They lost because of missing free throws and layups. We hit our layups and most of our free throws and we would have won by double digits. But that has been our problem all year. Shanity had a good game though.

Would have been cheaper to bid on the game. I doubt if they made that trip for less than that. Probably took every bit of that $10,000 and perhaps more.
Where was Phil Elson by the way. I can't stand to listen to Ray Tucker.

I must admit I kinda chuckled a bit when I heard the trip would cost the program money. Chris' butt cheeks probably clenched so tight you could put a lump of coal up there and in an hour you'd have a diamond.

Hell, that's funny. I've never heard that one before.

I can't believe we could have hosted a game for $6500 and we chose instead to go out to California and pay $10,000. If that's true, someone screwed up royally. I assume when we turned down the hosting deal, we assumed we'd be going somewhere closeby. Talk about bad decisions.

Yes, I'm sure we thought we would be able to take a bus. The WNIT tries to match you with teams that are close geographically. We should have gone to Fayetteville. It would be interesting to know the truth on that deal, but our media will never follow up on that.

My understanding is that Phil's family had committments and there was nobody else to stay with his children, so that's why he couldn't make the trip. Both his wife and Mother in Law, who would usually have been with the children, had long standing committments for that weekend.

The WNIT spokesman made it sound like UALR was simply the "odd man out" when they finished matching all the geographically close teams and thus they had to send them to the West coast. Certainly it is possible that one team gets screwed because of logistics. Still it doesn't explain why UALR was simply not sent to Fayetteville instead of Memphis. It would have been a lot easier for Memphis to travel to the west coast since they have a major airport that flies to California directly. Also with an RPI of 120-something they were a much more suitable matchup for a first round game against top-seeded Pacific (RPI-47) then UALR (RPI-61).

That really made no sense at all. Very strange deal. I'll bet Chris isn't very happy about the way they got screwed.
For that much money, the men could have probably played in one of the lesser tournaments.

If the cost of hosting was only $6,500, and it cost us $10,000 to go to California, I don't understand why we didn't bid on a game. I don't have a doubt that we couldn't have drawn as well as the Lady hogs did. The attendance at the first game at Fayetteville was1,145 and 1,348 for the second game. We could have drawn that many I believe, without the ghosts.

Sounds like the WNIT made the mistake. We could have gone to Fayetteville, saved some money, and the UofA could have made a little more money with an Arkansas opponent, although the home team would have been out of it after one game. I think we had a pretty good shot at beating them this year. I don't believe in comparing scores, but we did beat Memphis by 12 in Memphis. The hogs beat them by 10 at Fayetteville. But of course, if we played like we did against Pacific, we couldn't have beaten Pacific.

No doubt we would have beaten Fayetteville. They knew it and I have to believe that's why we didn't go there.

Yes Mickey, I agree with you. The sows had their plows cleaned by ASU years ago, the men would have lost to ASU had the game been any place besides Fayetteville, and there is a good chance it would have happened this year had they sent the Lady Trojans there. And Fayetteville knew that too. You'll never convince that Arkansas didn't call that shot.
