How to handle a shooter!
As I've said many times, let them shoot and keep them in the game.
Brad Stevens obviously knows how to handle it. Rotnei Clarke was having a terrible shooting night early, but the coach let him stay in the game and keep shooting. He knows that a shooter might be off, but eventually he'll start hitting his shots.

Then when the game was really on the line, Rotnei started hitting crucial baskets and making crucial free throws. He also made some very good passes when he was covered up. There will be some nights when the shooter is off. And you might lose a game when he can't hit his shots. But when you have a great shooter, you can't have a leash on him. You have to let him do his thing or you destroy his confidence.04-cheers

Marshall Henderson finally started to hit for Ole Miss. Happy for Coach Kennedy and I'm glad I'll get to see Henderson again.

Doc, if we played your way we'd be Troy. Do you want to be Troy? I don't. You've got to have a mix.

I recorded the game. I'm just now getting ready to watch it. I understand Henderson is somewhat goofy. Someone said "How can you tell when Henderson is going to shoot?" The answer. "Any time he has the ball in his hands".

Henderson almost shot them out of the game. Everyone will remember the few he made toward the end, but he missed a BUNCH earlier on. Henderson was 6 out of 21 (29%) from the field and 3 out of 12 from the arc. Nothing good about that. (Besides, he is a jerk.)

But when the game was on the line he made them. Not only that, he energizes that team. That's what a shooter does.
But when you have really good rebounders, like Ole Miss does, you can afford to have your shooter keep shooting because you can also score on put backs.

Troy is a team full of shooters, and they suck.

No offense, Doc, but that is entirely specious reasoning. If he had made his shots, the game never would have been on the line in the first place.

I have a feeling Doc was quite a ladies man back in the day. He can talk his way in and out of any situation! 04-cheers

I just like to create a little controversy on the board. It makes for entertainment when you get everyone into it.
