Campbell University is looking for a new head coach. Anybody happen to know anything?

Post open jobs and rumored candidates.

When is Chris Collins going to ink a deal with Northwestern?

Wish we were looking this season B. Kennedy is awful and has no ability to coach at this level but he's gonna get a 3rd season because the AD here doesn't care about men's basketball :(

RE: Coaching Carousel 2013 Basketball
Does anyone know where Robbie Laing will be heading after his departure at Campbell? Perhaps he will end up as an assistant at a larger program or head coach somewhere else. I really hate to see them leaving. He and his family were great assets to the community, good people. If White and a couple of others had stayed healthy the Camels season might have turned out completely different and he would still be in Buies Creek.

Old Dominion's job is open. The Administration has kept it close to the vest but names that have come up:

Mike Rhoades (Asst. VCU)
Andrew Toole (HC Robert Morris)
Dennis Felton (Last job was at Georgia, Fired)

There are other candidates but none else are coming to mind right now.

Apparently it's been said that Rhoades would "Walk from Richmond to ODU to get the job" so we'll see what happens.

I'm not sure what happened in Buies Creek with Robbie, but I think he's a good coach; they sure as hell have beat the Pirates recently...

Their "new" arena is nice. I grew up in Dunn and went there for 2 years until I decided to transfer; I wish them nothing but the best.

Whenever your job is dependent on how well 18-22 year olds play a game there is a good chance you could get fired.01-lauramac2 There is a new AD there and he seems to be inclined to want to put his own hires there. He fired the football coach after that season as well.

Campbell could be a really good job; I'm being serious! The cost of living is low, Keith Hills is nice and the community is full of good people who have good values. If I'm not mistaken, they also have pretty good attendance for a school (and gym) of their size. Plus, that school has enough money to pay someone well if they want to.

Saying its "stupid" is just going by his name recognition (cant remember who said, I want to say Forde, but theres a "cult of coach" out there). As someone who's watched quite a bit of Gopher hoops, the team and players were in constant regression.

Player examples: Ralph Sampson III was a better player his sophomore season than his senior. Rodney Williams disappeared from this years team in about mid-January (highlight reel dunks aside). And I could go on from there (basically Andre Hollins is the lone exception).

And its easy to point out the team regression. Look at where they were when they were ranked 9th earlier this season and at the end. The Indiana game was a blip on the radar, but surrounding that were losses to Northwestern, Iowa, Nebraska and Purdue which is just pathetic given the teams talent. They won the UCLA game because the Bruins were shorthanded and completely gave up.

Tubby never finished .500 or above in the B1G. Why is it shocking he was fired with that kind of mediocrity? Or is it shocking cause the national media is so friendly to him they wont point that factoid out? The Tubby hire should have worked out but it didnt. Its best they parted ways.

Edit: I should also add that I have no malice towards Tubby (I just read my post and it read to me that way). The program is in far better shape than it was when he came in. Just better to get this kind of thing out of the way and let the new AD make his own hire.

It's Minnesota...not Duke. Following your regression theory, I guess the Kentucky coach should get the ax too? I am sorry here, but you play in the B1G where seven teams make the NCAA tourney, you make the tourney and win a big game? Not seeing this...

I agree with much of what you say, except attendance. I go to one or two of their games each year and attendance ranges from a few hundred to a couple of thousand. The students at the High Point game did a white out, all 25 of them. 03-banghead It was kind of sad. The convocation center is really nice but it really looks bad when it is only about a fourth of the way full.
