Wrong.
That refers to Alex Abreu who was suspended after being arrest for dealing drugs.

Worst NCAA appearance in MAC history is tough live down.
I'm sorry, I don't feel sorry for them - not even one little bit, and especially not for their blowhard fans that are blaming their poor showing on the MAC, their arena, that its cold in Ohio, that they got a "poor draw" you name it. Honestly, I was surprised they got a 12 seed; before yesterday I thought that was very generous. After all their "felon" name calling of Kent, (and I'm sure OU could add something here about how the Zips fans treat them) I almost feel this year has been all about karma for them. I live in VA, and boarded a plane in Richmond behind a guy with a VCU hat on. (He's heading to Michigan for the next game.) I wanted to hug him but I just said "thanks." I know, I know, I should have hoped for a better showing for our conference and any other team I can do that for...just not the Zips. This will be "tough to live down" for them and them alone.

RE: Akron
The MAC is viewed as a poor conference because of what it does as a whole in November and December, not because of 1 game in March, even one as embarrassing and humiliating as this one.

I did say it was a first.

The have become the MAC's peer conferences in basketball. Looking at Conference RPI the last couple of years, it's clear.
The saddest thing is that we have become the second best "MAC." The MAAC has been better two years in a row.
Akron getting *****-slapped is the least of our problems.
I agree that Akron's meltdown is the least of our problems, but it is the attention getting wake up call that the conference may need to start to address the rest of them.
It's too bad about all of the noise, as though the fact that two Akron bench players had the flu changed the outcome. If Walsh felt better, the Zips might have lost by 40. On the other hand, if SS decided not to show mercy mid way through the second quarter, the Zips could have lost by 60.

RE: Akron
On the bright side for the Zips, they avoid the dilemma of moving down in football because of the invitation to move up to a better basketball conference.

Agreed. The bottom of our conference is holding us down.

So is the top.
The MAC needs better teams than Akron and Ohio were this year. Akron and Ohio would be 4-5th place teams in a good mid-major conference like the MAC we wish we were.
The bottom, middle, AND top are simply not good enough. It's a top to bottom problem.

Let's see what you have to say when Ohio is on the bottom in football and basketball...
