We haven't hosted an NIT game since 06, but students got tickets for free. Surprised USM would charge $5.

NCAA ticket prices....

Correct, students typically get into games for free

NCAA........it's all about the students and education. :)

The tournament needs the money. I believe they are paying traveling expenses for the teams.

RE: Donnie Tyndall....
Tyndall was probably the best all round coach in the conference this year (the Memphis job just has so many built in advantages). He seems to have really connected with the Southern Miss players and his donation of 5 grand for a 1,000 student tickets brings much more than 5 thousand dollars worth of exposure to the program and goodwill from the students and other fans --- it also gives you a hint at Tyndall's PR abilities. High marks all around --

What's interesting about that pic is that if someone asked a stranger to pick out the basketball coach in that pic, Donnie would probably be the last guy picked.

He sure appears to be a heck of a guy that obviously fits in the "average joe" community that makes up that vast majority of our fan bases around the conference. I don't know these coaches personally, but I'm not sure that Larry Brown, Josh, Donnie Jones and perhaps some others are "tailgating" type guys.

Great picture, stinkfist.

Thanks, and I agree. Tyndall is special. Our fan base is starting to figure that out....tonight after the game is something I have rarely seen before from our fans...most of them stayed to give thanks to the team and acknowledge DT....almost made me shed a tear of pride...

...and last year a majority of USM posters said we weren't a basketball town....hell, we may just turn into one....thx again wise one.

Last night was the first time I've ever seen a USM coach get a standing ovation before the game for just walking out onto the court from the locker room.

If we can keep building this program, I don't think Tyndall will leave for a few years.

I am looking now to Hammond/Favre/Grubbs etc. to step up for the next game...for them, it would be like tipping at a restaurant. ...gotta have the students at the game

We love our school and Tyndall has marketed an entire new concept here....he is the MAN!

Tyndall loves Hattiesburg. I met his parents, they feel the same way. His hot girlfriend loves Hattiesburg also. All that being said, supposedly he is getting some heavy feelers from Auburn and probably some other schools. Need to get him the practice facility he wants and some more money.

Hammond will do what he can to make this happen. I am hardly surprised he is getting looks (posted this fear awhile back). Here is to hoping he turns down Auburn as Bower did and we do what is necessary to keep him happy.

It's my understanding that the new President will buy the 1,000 tix for the next home game.
