RE: Fox Sports Press Release
Xavier has a contract with fox sports currently. All of our games were televised on fox sports ohio. I'm not sure how it will work now but I'm thinking the games that aren't on FS1 will still be broadcast on fox sports ohio. I admit I've gotten very used to having every single game on TV where you can go in to any sports bar with direct TV and a sports package and watch a Xavier game anywhere in the country.

Creighton and Butler are both in FS Midwest territory, Marquette is in FS North territory, and SJU and SHU are in YES territory ( recently acquired by Fox). These set up as additional outlets for BE games.

This is some seriously awesome news.

One key production signing by Fox Sports 1 -- and this transaction has caused a little bad blood between Fox Sports and the NFL Network -- is Fox's hiring of former NFL Network producer Bardia Shah-Rais. One ESPN-er who worked with Shah-Rais called him "the best hire Fox Sports 1 has made so far." Shah-Rais is expected to play a major role in the production Fox Sports 1's Big East package. "He's phenomenal, and that's an understatement," said one NFL Network staffer. "It's a huge loss for us."

Shah-Rais is a SHU alum. Woot.

Looks like Fox Sports 2 might be coming out at the same time as Fox Sports 1. Hopefully that means more Big East programming.

Most will have the Speed channel (Fox Sports 1), to get Fox Sports 2, atleast initially, you'll probably have to get a sports package.

I think it's very possible. I don't think they're paying $30-$40M a year to show the games as RSN filler. They want first-tier live sports on FoxSports1. Four games over a weekend, four games during the week for January-February is 8 x 9 = 72 games right there. Two games a week for November-December is 2 x 9 = 18. That's 90 games.

As much content as they have, they will still need to rely on us heavily during BBall season.

Monday will be Golden Boy promotions fight night.
Weds will be UFC fights and the Ultimate Fighter.

So that leaves at least 5 nights for BBall, and not counting weekend daytime games.

Certainly. FOX owns the rights to all Big East men's basketball games, and they ain't buying them to not show them. They'll be on somewhere. FS2, RSNs, ESPN sublicensing, maybe CBS buying a couple.

Was the old saying about a meat company that they used every part of the pig, including the squeal?

I really don't see the ESPN sublicensing from Fox's side at all. Certainly none of the better games. Maybe some of the weaker games, but that would be all quite frankly.

We regularly get assured that ESPN and Fox will continue to sublicense games back and forth. I'm skeptical, but I think Fox sells the game to ESPN-U before Fox lets the game go un-aired. On that note, I wonder if FoxSports2 ends up with some MAC or SBC or Aresco League games on Saturdays.
The point is, Fox will find some way to either show the game or sell it to someone who will.

[quote 'Frank The Tank']Fox Sports 2 hasn't officially been announced yet (unlike Fox Sports 1), even though it's considered to a fait accompli, so I think that's why it isn't reference. I'd assume that a number of Big East games will end up there.

One little known fact is that the AAC agreement only allows ESPN to sub license to networks that have a reach of over 74 million households. The future Fox Sports-2 is nowhere near that level. Only two sports networks are---NBC-Sports and Fox Sports-1. CBS-Sports and the future Fox-Sports-2 do not qualify.
