OT: Why are they covering RMU and UK so much?
I know it was an upset and that Kentucky is national program coming off a national title but they act like this was a 16 over a 1 or even an upset in the NIT title game, as little as that'd be worth.

Oh and did I mention it is just an NIT game? Don't get me wrong, it was fun to see Kentucky go down to a big underdog but ESPN is going over the top with this.

So RMU can move up to a better league. CAA, Horizon, etc.

May have something to do with how SEC coaches were so put off by the fact that only 3 teams got to dance and some where whining that UK should have been in. I enjoy that kind of arogance getting smacked directly in the face and being told to sit down and shut up. But that's me.

UK basketball is like ND football: discussing them is huge for ratings because they have so many fans and also so many people who love to hate them.

RE: OT: Why are they covering RMU and UK so much?
1- UK is a top 5 brand in MBB at worst

2- They were last year's champs

3- People hate Calipari

4- RMU was the worst seed in their NIT region.

5- Only competing games were other NIT games, quality small market teams in St Mary's vs MTSU first four game, or the "we won our conf tourney after stinking all year" Liberty vs NC A&T deathmatch. Which one gets the most interest? Obviously Goliath hitting rock bottom.

What should they put in the headlines? Texas and Houston in the CBI? There isn't much else on and I thought it was a pretty big deal compared to anything else that happened yesterday.

I didn't say they shouldn't have covered it and show some highlights. But they just got done interviewing Morris' coach and did a list of the biggest upsets in sports history. Really? This NIT upset compares to App. State-Michigan, The Miracle on Ice, N.C. State-Houston?

Don't get me wrong, it was fun to see but wow, calm down.

Well it's definitely not that level of an upset, it was just the biggest thing on yesterday, not to mention on E$PN when it happened.

I don't think the game would even be considered in the top 25 of upsets this year.

Here is massey's list:

http://masseyratings.com/extgms.php?s=193573&sub=11590

In Massey RM is 139 and Kentucky 64; RPI is 124 vs 57. Those type of wins are a dime a dozen during the season.

Of course TCU over Kansas is #1. Had to be one of the seven signs.

They covered it because it's an unbelievable upset. That's news.

It was a bigger game than the two play in games yesterday.

What the networks have failed to mention is if UK actually gave a crap about playing the game. Especially away.

Yeah, because it's not possible that St. Mary's could turn into VCU and go to a Final Four. Granted, I get it, Kentucky is a national program coming off a championship but it's still just the NIT.

That's no excuse to lose to the lowest seed in the NIT.

The media will start talking about St. Mary's if they beat Memphis tomorrow.

St. Mary's is in the Bay Area suburb of Moraga. Small private school, but not small market.

I know it's near the bay area but they aren't a team that usually draws a big following. That's probably a more accurate way of putting it.

I agree, but UK is full of freshman, so, who knows if they actually cared?

Actually it's seniors who wouldn't care. Freshmen are usually the ones who would care about this kind of game.

Calipari has been talking all year about how difficult it's been for him to reach this group and get through to them. I guess he never did.

Doesn't matter. It's the names.

Robert Morris. Who?

Beat Kentucky??? You're kidding!

It's the WTF reaction that makes it news.
