ODU will still rock those the majority of the time, this would serve as an alternate. Coach Bobby Wilder admires Oregon's program and has been modeling parts of his program after the ducks, namely the offense and uniforms (not necessarily their ugly designs but having a lot of options). Last season, ODU already had 160 uniform combinations.

We have a bazillion* helmet and uniform combinations, It wouldn't surprise me to have a different uniform set every game next year. thankfully, we're still in the normal color palette.

Is it really a money thing why ECU doesn't get new uniforms? I grew up in Eastern NC and I remember Jeff Blake and the crew back in the day. I bring that up, because ECU had much different uniforms back then. Most teams with uniforms like ECU's wear them because that's what they've always done (Notre Dame, Alabama, Penn State) I've always been curious as to why ECU went with a very ordinary purple look. Not that I don't like it... it looks awesome.

It's basically exactly what ECU did, but it's a cool idea for any school/program, in my opinion.

I like you helmet. And that chrome stripe will interfere with the opponents eyesight. Good idea. I wonder how long before some coach complains and they're removed or matted a little.

It's not the money. It's actually a very conservative approach to uniforms by Coach Ruffin. Also, the Admin folkies think it is important to keep the ECU on the helmets for brand recognition.

I'm pissed. First it was NCSU now it's ODU. It would have been one thing to print "Hot Hot Hot!" on the front of your unis... but come on dudes, be original. Develop your own cool stuff and leave ours alone.

Using your state in a logo in the athletic world might be new and ecu the first but it's not it some revolutionary design concept. I liked it when ECU did it and I like it with Virginia outline and ODU. Ultimately some will think it's flattering to be "copied" others will think it's biting their style.

I am looking forward to some of the design of concepts that come out of filthy dripped clothing. I've gotten one of their designs they've done for limited tshirts at each home coming game and each year they've done some really cool designs incorporating the letters and mascot. I think they were talking about doing stuff in an official capacity with the school this year.

I'm not a big fan of the chrome reflective stipe, maybe if it was thinner. Big fan of matte or flat color for helmets tho.

ECU's lack of "style" for the football uniforms has nothing to do with money, it costs just as much to buy ugly plain uniforms from Nike as it does to buy cool good looking uniforms. With that said, the rumor is that there will be a new design for the uniforms and helmets this year.
