My point is as long as NIU or any Mac team has the clear best Q-Back, they will be the best team in the conference. The question is are we a better program or lately have we just had the best q-back and player in the conference. As far as bball, we have a mr.bball finalist from a great bball state and people are talking crap about it!

Having a good QB is not sufficient to be the best team in the conference. Gotta have good WRs and blocking too. Dysert has been good but hasn't had the team around him. He's been a better passer than Lynch. I do think you have to have a good QB to win the MACC though. Not sure what that has to do with Highsmith though.

Highsmith has nothing to do with a good q-back. The posts are all over the place. Dysert may be good, but thats not what I am talking about. The MAC team that has the best q-back, who also is the best player, in the conference will win the league (Lafevour, Harnish, Lynch).

Harnish didn't win in 2010.

Was NIU the best team in the MAC in 2010? yes or no. I think we all know the answer.

Somewhat off topic but here's an article from our local rag about the state of MAC Basketball

That is pretty interesting. I have always felt without a good way to measure it that for many schools, you have success in one program at the expense of another when it comes to basketball and football. NIU has always been a basketball school but that identity has changed since 2000. The mobility in AD's we have seen here with a focus on quick job promotion also does not lend itself much to anything being invested in basketball. The path of least resistance is chosen. Perhaps this is another argument that supports Korcek in getting someone with stronger Huskie ties/commitment might be the best route to take.

If he does, he sure has a long long long way to go to earn back the respect of his teammates and fans. At this point Id almost rather he depart, I highly doubt he will ever change.

For NIU to get better, they need him to stay. Him and Highsmith are building blocks.

+1. And I wouldn't worry about winning back the "fans" trust. That assumes we have some.

If those two play and start winning, no one will even remember the suspensions and him almost leaving the team. Winning cures a lot.

They'll win me back. I have a very short memory. Perhaps the only advantage of dementia and a shrinking brain. That and whenever I see my wife, I think she's a different woman each time. Plus, I never see a movie twice - even when I actually do.

Just curious How many d 1 schools have successful football and basketball programs?

I don't have the answer but it might make for interesting conversation.
