The Army/Navy deal seem like the best for the big east. The Big East doesn't have to split and you get your extra football game every year.

ND doesn't play Army every year...in fact...
...next year will be the first time since 1998.

Contrary to popular lore, ND has only played Army three times since 1985:

Stop the presses, I agree with Tiger for once! lmfao Same goes for adding Detroit. About as likely as adding San Jose St.

You have teams names divided by color at the bottom I see. UofL will never agree to be in a division for basketball that includes Memphis...and then 4 teams they'll be playing home & home every year that are 200+ RPI.

Really, those 4 teams would be HALF of our conference schedule every year. And when was the last time anyone received an NCAA at-large bid among Marshall, ECU, USF, & UCF? I'm sure I'll be corrected if wrong but I'm thinking there may not be an NCAA at-large bid EVER from those 4. If so its 1 or 2 ever probably. That division would be like mixing some Big 10/ACC teams with teams from the SWAC/MEAC when all concentrated together like that.

Do you ever read? Two months ago you were slamming Holy Cross and someone, I forget who, wrote that they had been up to Holy Cross and talked to the athletic department. They are expanding their budget and bringing back scholarships. Did you forget that or did you just choose to ignore it? Holy Cross was supposed to be an original Big East member anyway and they still have good relations with Providence, St. John's, and Seton Hall. They would help get the Big East back on TV in Massachusetts, generally, and Boston, specifically. They are the best Catholic option to balance things if the Big East wanted to expand again. Adding a football only is a bad idea. It must be all or nothing.

As for the Patriot League, there is no such thing as Division IA basketball, there is only Division I basketball. Do you realize that Holy Cross has finished either first or second in Patriot League basketball for the last four years? It's either been them or Bucknell. You know the same Bucknell that beat Pitt? Of course not, you never actually pay attention to game results, just slam other people's ideas online all day. Holy Cross is 18-11 this year. They swept Army and Navy; beat Fordham, Brown, Chattanooga, Northeastern, and BU; gave Cincinnati and Siena decent games; and almost beat Vermont, Mississippi State, and BC. But people who don't actually watch games wouldn't know such things.

If you cannot tell the difference between Holy Cross bb today and the BE you need to have your eyes examined.Adding budget does make the bottom of division 1A bb the top. There are many levels of bb betwween the Patriot and the BE.Skipping directly is not going to happen.Boston U or Northeastern would bring in the Boston market which Holy Cross would not.The A10 mixes Catholic,Private and State schools so could the BE.

Mixing Up A Mess
Mixing is what got the Big East into the current mess. I would agree that if another basketball school is brought in, it should be a Catholic school. Conferences should be made up of similar schools with similar goals and visions. The Big East already has enough different agendas as it is.

The A-10 is not a model anyone trying to build a conference should look at. That league has successful basketball teams sometimes but they also have major internal issues more often than not. Most of that strife is caused by their mixed configuration. Too many institutional differences.

How sad. Accuse someone of being a name caller while you're calling them a name.

7:50 PM on Friday night huh? Big East Tournament semis on and you're doing this?

No its attack attack unless you agree its a split and you want memphis.Forget reality just have your split agenda open.Holy Cross is a tiny Patriot League member that used. to play some BE teams and now its headed from the bottom of division 1 to the top. What load of illogical junk. But it certainly goes with the BE split and memphis ,just more illogical junk.

Does that army cartoon know about don't ask, don't tell? I don't like the army/navy 4 game deal, better to just bring temple back. Also, most big east football school's have army/navy on the schedule so it does't help much to add them as a conf game.

Why?

Perhaps because Army sucks and Navy doesn't.

alleged affiliates
What alleged mysterious affiliates are filling the big gaping hole that is currently in West Virginia's schedule? They need to affiliate themselves with a pen and sign a contract if they really exist! Should the Mountaineers wait until 2011 for this?
