While generally I would agree with you, you have 4 top-100 wins according to this: http://www.rpiforecast.com/teams/Souther...sippi.html
And you're 31 in the RPI.

Compare with Middle Tennessee who has one top-100 win: http://www.rpiforecast.com/teams/Middle%...essee.html
And they're 29 in the RPI.

Don't get me wrong, I'm quite happy MTSU made it, but I'm not convinced they should've gotten in over USM. I'd be upset if I was a USM fan (not with MTSU, but with the committee not giving you any credit).

I'm convinced it would have put us in the tournament had Middle Tennessee won their conference tournament and Ole Miss lost to Missouri. Given how close our resume was to that of La Salle and Middle Tennessee, we could not have been more than one or two places out of the tournament. At least I get to see the NIT games in person.

We had 3 chances to get in, but missed all three. The first was to have beaten Marshall. The second was when MTSU lost in their tournament. The last was at the end of the first overtime when we hit only 1 of 2 FTs. Hit 2 and Memphis is forced to take a 3, and while they are good at shooting 3s, it would have been a better chance than a 2.

By the way, do you realize that we were 3 of Memphis' top 50 wins?

RE: USM got hose
Southern Miss had to either beat Memphis or beat UCF or Marshall on the road. Doing either of those would have cinched a bid.
