Ditto.

I'm guessing this means UTEP turned them down, too. No postseason for the Miners. Hate to see it.

Will Texas have an interim coach?

I'm really surprised UT accepted this tournament, and even more than that, a road game. What are they - 16-17 on the year or something like that? I could see them wanting a few home games to maybe try for a winning record but I"m not sure what they hope to gain with a road game. Especially one that I imagine will be well attended by UH fans and that will be tough for the Longhorns to win.

I'm guessing Texas accepted a bid expecting to outbid whomever for the spot, only to draw Houston and have them out bid them.

Unreal that no schools from Texas made the tournament.

That's not usually how it works though. If both teams submitted a decent bid, they'd each host games. Texas probably didn't bid enough for that tournament to give them a home game and maybe Rick Barnes wants another game in this town to seal the deal with some local recruits.

Okay that makes sense, although this tournament would precede the NCAA games by a day or two. They also have a smaller arena on campus where they play volleyball matches but they probably couldn't make any money at that site. It's a win-win for UH - if they win the game.

You know what, if this means Spike Dykes keeps his job at the helm of UH, then it's all good.
