Do most people around here realize this band program, and the music department in general, is pretty awesome and something to be proud of? Because if you dig through the archives around here, **** got real for awhile there.

UAB Department of Music changed my life. Go Blazers.

I am glad they were able to make the trip

Yet they still cannot make an away game to Miss State or Georgia.

They aren't conference opponents

They decided a few years ago that they'd send a pep band once we started winning those games. Why spend the money to watch us lose 40-7? Were not all music majors. Most of us have classes on Friday and Monday.

This Dublin trip was paid for out of pocket largely by the students too.

Some of the hate towards the band may come from a certain tread about head wear and a guy who was a bit too eager to tell everyone off.

To be young and bold again...

Money. #1 reason those trips aren't made.

Winning team. #2 reason those trips aren't made.

More money will come with more winning by way of more butts in the seats.

A lot the people that made the trip are freshmen and sophomores. The biggest thing this group has seen from the athletic teams is beating Southern Miss in football last year and nothing else. They haven't really experienced a full Bartow rocking against someone other than Memphis. I would probably say the biggest moments in the Marching Blazers for them have been marching in the Super Dome this year and this trip.

That being said, the future is bright for football and basketball. That helps the band in every single area.
