I was referring to BCS football conferences.
It will be interesting how the C7/Big East keeps up with football playing conferences.

11 of 12. USM was the only team left out.

Boise State earned it. 8-8 top 100 is deserving at the bubble. La Salle was who beat us out. 6-8 versus top 100, but two top 50 wins. We were 5-7 with zero top 50 wins.
Boise State: 4-7 top 50, 4-1 51-100, two bad losses, RPI of 44.
La Salle: 2-4 top 50, 4-4 51-100, one bad loss, RPI of 46.
Southern Miss: 0-5 top 50, 5-2 51-100, two bad losses, RPI of 32.

southern miss has got to get out of the NAIA scheduling, get in a decent early season tournament and swallow hard and play some name schools on the road. their scheduling philosophy is why they didnt get in the bracket this year and holds that program back.

Dude, we played Arizona, New Mexico State, Denver, Louisiana Tech, and Witchita State...all but Denver on the road. What else should we have done, other than win more of those?

USM tried. More losses on the road would not help. Only wins.
Nobody wants to go to Hattiesburg. They played unrated teams(d2/NAIA) to fill out schedule.
Out of conference rpi and overall rpi was good. Just needed 1 top 50 win.

11 non-"big 6" schools got in as at-larges. That is a pretty sizable number historically.

1) We volunteered to be a first round game in the Legends Tourney (and beat Georgia... who a few people had high hopes for).
2) we played EVERY top 100 team we played on their court (including "Neutral" site for Wichita State that was only an hour away from their campus),. except Denver, which was a return for a H/H, where we played on their court last year.
3) We only played two NAIA teams and that was simply before the conference schedule started to keep us warm rather than last time, when we started conference play with no games in the two weeks prior.
I said this before.. tell some of these teams we've been willing to face on the road, come to Hattiesburg and let's see if they can beat us in the Yurt.
Yes, we should have won one of those road games.. but don't tell us our scheduling is what cost us an NCAA invite.

Same number as last year... 11 from last year, 11 from this year.

It's a dumb distinction to make for basketball.
The mighty SEC is rated 8th in RPI--between the A10 and the MVC, yet on some of their boards the fans think they deserved 4 bids.
Cusa went 3-4 against the SEC this year. Last year I believe we either were one up against them or tied. Yet, their fans think their football prowess should somehow bleed over and make them superstars in bball.
Auburn, South Carolina, Miss St., and Arky would be middling Cusa teams this year.

If Rice and MSU played each other, I'd take Rice straight up in that game...and Auburn was even worse.
