If we get a 7 here's hoping we play in Philly

RE: Seed prediction after reaching 30 wins
We deserve to be a 4 or 5 seed. While we have no great wins, we also have no bad losses. That is very impressive considering the amount of parity in college basketball this year. With that being said, I highly doubt we get a 4 or 5. I think a 6 or 7 is much more likely. There is absolutely no way we should be lower than a 7 considering our record, rpi, and rank, but it would not surprise me if we get completely screwed and be an 8 again. I do think we have a better resume than last year though, so I think an 8 is unlikely.

I said it's either a 4, or anything up to and including 13.

Somewhere in there. LOL

RE: Seed prediction after reaching 30 wins
Last year's committee chair just said they only use the RPI now to organize a list of teams to consider. Once they start ranking teams, they still have it available but don't really use it. Said main criteria is quality wins. That gives them leeway to knock us down again.

I think we deserve a 5 or 6. Think we will get a 7 or 8. Most CBS analysts are saying 8 or 9, which would be a travesty, IMO.

I think we get a 7. It will be ridiculous if we get an 8 or 9. I'm usually disappointed by our seed from the committee.

If the main criteria is quality wins then definitely don't expect below a 6.

Has nothing to do with race. But don't let that get in the way of your argument. Obama never has.

Memphis suffers from playing in a terrible conference as a result of years of neglect by the President of the university.

Its a perfect formula for screwing the mid majors over.

They get to decide what is a "quality" team in each situation and resume based on their own perceptions and biases.

After all, the mid majors get few chances at "quality" wins and the big conference teams get 12-15 a season.

We are 3-3 in the top 50 RPI, but all 3 wins are USM, which the committee will discount. They also deserve a bid and won't get one.

The Tigers have three top 50 RPI wins, but because they are all against Southern Miss, we won't get any credit for them. We are apparently a member of the only conference in Division I that is not allowed to claim quality wins against league foes.

They even downplayed conf wins when it was over an NCAA tourney team.

Its just wrong.

RE: Seed prediction after reaching 30 wins
IMO, it's virtually impossible for us to be given an 8 seed or worse. It would be unprecedented with our resume. Every other 8-16 seed in history has had either a so-so record, a so-so RPI ranking, at least one bad loss, underperformed in their conference tourney, etc. We have none of those things on our resume.

Consider last year: We had a worse record, a worse RPI ranking, a bad loss, some regular season conference losses, AND the overall tourney field was stronger. With a weaker field this year and every aspect of our resume better, how could we get the same or worse seed than we did last year?

The butler matchup might happen but the matchup with Indiana will not happen because again they try to avoid rematches during the first weekend.

You're looking at this too logically. If bias plays a role anywhere, it's in the seeding process. I hope it changes but until it does I won't let logic get in the way.

This has been my feeling on the matter as well.

If we were in the 8-9 game last year, no way we are this year.

It wouldn't make any sense at all give the comparisons of our record and RPI last year and this year.

RE: Seed prediction after reaching 30 wins
We should be able to look at last years record/RPI and this years and KNOW we aren't in the 8/9 game.

That would suggest we were given a FAVORABLE seed last year, and we know that wasn't the case.

Deserve a 5 or 6.
Will get a 7.

(which means a nine if you're scoring at home)

Ranked #20, RPI #15 , if we get anything less than a #7 seed, it'll be another NCAA Selection Committee travesty. Surely, they can't be that blind. And yes, I'm calling you 'surely'.
