As I read it, Notre Dame will make a scheduling commitment to play 4 ACC schools annually and with then rotate among the other ten members.

For the sake of discussion, let's assume that the other 2 schools are Syracuse and Pitt. That means if you are not BC, Georgia Tech, Syracuse, or Pitt and you are an ACC member, you get Notre Dame on your schedule once every ten years.

It doesn't seem like much of a concession from Notre Dame. Basically they're keeping on their schedule the teams they already play and then reserve one spot for an annual ACC game.

I'm not sure why they wouldn't want to play more ACC teams. There are a lot of high profile potential match-ups.

ACC is a big winner and that is true for every ACC conference member. From a football standpoint, the visiblity and money ND football brings is superb. ND football fans are going to be watching and supporting ACC football.....it is a huge increase in the tv audience for ACC. No wonder every conference in the world (B1G, B12) has been pursuing ND over the years. N

No doubt also ND will help with ACC bowls.

Just putting football to the side for the moment....look what ND does for ACC basketball.

If so, it's a good one. ACC basketball would be nothing without Notre Dame.

This is about basketball, not football.

I am fine with it....Notre Dame is not a Football Member and they have a right to somewhat control their schedule with the agreement.

What the ACC gets in return is a better media deal and much better bowl lineup. I suspect the ACC Bowl Lineup will improve with the addition of ND in the Bowl Rotation. Schools like ND, FSU, Virginia Tech, Clemson & Louisville have strong fan support for Bowl Games & a school like Miami while not a great travel fanbase has great ratings when they are good.

Ahh . . . I knew there had to be more to it than met the eye. Looking at the paragraph before it, that makes perfect sense.

I wonder if this means that the ACC will go to a 3 division pid system for basketball. I was already thinking that 3 pods make the most sense for a 15 team basketball league.

Of course this is not in keeping with the idea of them playing BC, GT + 2 others. The ACC does strange things with its divisions. The proposed BC + GT makes no sense to me. If they do this, the divisions will look very strange and will be as hard to call to mind as the present divisions are.

Every ACC school will have 2 permanent basketball partners. For example, UNC will play Duke and NC State 2x, and Pittsburgh will play Syracuse and Maryland/Louisville 2X. Notre Dame merely has BC and GT as partners. No news here.

This was decided last October and is about basketball.

Wake gets Duke and NC State.
GT gets Notre Dame and Clemson.
Etc....

So it looks like the ACC is playing an 18-game schedule, just not using divisions.

Will the tournament use the double bye like the Big East tournament does now?

In the annual ACC/B1G Challenge, the decision was made to include the 12 teams with the best RPI from the previous year.

Yes the only difference is all 15 teams will play. BE only plays the top 14 teams. There will be 3 games on Wed, 4 Thurs, 4 Friday, 2 Sat, 1 Sun

Louisville will take Maryland's spot.

Not going to happen. This is once again about basketball. Notre Dame at best can get one ACC team every year. And that would be if they go to 6 ACC games with the 1 protected rivalry and the other 5 spots going to the other 13 in some order.

Every team is guaranteed ND in football once every 3 years. Of course being ND, I wouldn't be surprised at all if they screw over the ACC somehow.
