Not really a close game. Your style is hard to watch 03-zzz03-zzz Your attendance is embarrassing. 302 at your last home game. I've seen middle school games draw better than that.

Either way I think we match up well with them, and if Riley keeps up the effort he's displayed the past two games, we become a REAL threat, especially on O (the defense has always been there). The bad thing is, however, that I do believe the game hinges on Rileys offensive game. If he can scrap out 10 points, I dont think the Broncs stand a chance.... It's just not very comforting to rely on that.

Riley is a stiff. Might be the biggest bust I've ever seen. Whittington and Paul toyed with him. His range is a dunk.

EMU 56- WMU 55

Well, you got the 55 part right.

WMU ripped your zone up, most dunks and tap ins we have had all year.

Hope, Coach Murphy stays there for a few more years, in case you didn't notice we have 8 freshmen on that team 3 of which get real playing time.

Referees, screwed us in that last game at your place in overtime, David Brown got fouled three times in the last drive, must have been your large crowd scared them.

Well, we beat them this year without Riley contributing offensively, so I wouldn't say the game hinges on his performance on that side of the court. It would certainly help though.

Murphy had interesting comments after the game yesterday. He said after the Toledo game, they had a "players only" meeting and apparently Riley took charge. Definitely wasn't expecting to hear that. You can see something different with him these last two games, even outside of the stat sheet. He looks more aggressive and less like a guy who'd rather be doing anything else. He even knocked down his free throws.

When he plays like that, he could dominate the league...just wish he'd do it more consistently.

Riley may be the biggest underachiever in MI high school bball history. Paul threw a pass to Whittington between Riley's legs 03-lmfao

He can do one thing. Stand like a tree on defense and change some shots with his length. The rest of his game is worthless.

Potts is wrong. The Toledo Blade informed the UT coach that the MAC Commish slotted the UT Cheaters in 6th place. So not only did they not tie for the top, they finished dead last. Which is what cheaters deserve.

He doesn't have the power to alter reality, no matter what he says. Bush league move by the commish.

Where were these WMU posters after last year's football game? Really thought we'd be more up for this game and a better performance on the court but yes the team didn't quit after the loss to Toledo.

We got Talley eligible next year, Ward coming in, Lee hopefully healthy and one or two more players as well.

Hopefully it will be enough to win the MAC West and move upward.

Indeed, and I'll make the point folks here won't make:

WMU played very, very well Thursday night.

Wow, he's right. 302 was the attendance for the NIU game! Holy sh**...and our style is hard to watch, I definitely agree. Hopefully that changes. Riley may lack desire, but he should be able to average a double double next year because the MAC bigs, except Whittington are terrible. Nice win for WMU but neither team realisitically was going to beat Ohio anyway, so good luck.

Considering the drivel on their board, I expected nothing less from them. By far the worst fan base on here. Usually I root for MAC West teams when they aren't playing us in situations like this, but I really hope Ohio runs a train on them tonight.

I went to their board and looked at the topics and left after about 15 seconds. 04-chairshot

I think a moderator needs to cleam up that act over there...

BTW, how and when did we lose the game?

1). With about 4 minutes to go in the 1st half? We missed 4 straight FTs when the game was very close (we trailed by a few).

2). Second half? Did we tire or did the better team simply 'win out?"

Their passing was excellent - maybe the best i've seen against EMU this year. it totally negated our defense. i don't think we played poorly (except for all the airballs) last night, Western was just the better team.

That is my view also and is implicit in my 2nd question.

I thought WMU played very, very well last night. We've made some decent (and some not so decent) MAC teams look pretty bad, but WMU would have none of it last might.

They seemed very well prepared and their execution was excellent.

yes, their preparation and execution was excellent. Some of the WMU fans complain about Hawkins' lack of in-game adjustments. it would have been nice for us to change things up at halftime and let Hawkins respond to that, particularly since Western looked like a team that was going to pull away in the first half (in my opinion).

Steve, we were only down 5 with 3 minutes left. Don't know if we made another shot after that. The score isn't at all indicative of the game.

Hard to be mad at our guys...they played their asses off. Western was just the better team yesterday.

Edit: Aaron beat me to it. Well said.

Dear EagleSam,
I totally agree with your assessment of that Western group. Besides the U-M groupies I've never seen a more arrogant group of people. I also hope that Ohio gives them a lesson. The thing is athletically, they are a typical middle-of-the-pack group that occasionally wins a championship. I don't understand how that qualifies for their arrogance. Sure their football records have been better than ours, but I don't see dozens of championship banners hanging somewhere.
They sure were gracious winners.

What I like about the tourney run is that there is a lot for the players to remember and look forward eagerly for next season.

If I were a player I'd want to start next season next week. :)

As mentioned on the telecast, Matt B and Harris were essentially role players so DT is the only big loss going forward, and rarely does a team NOT lose at least one starter to graduation.

And as we all know, we have a prospective starter (Talley) sitting out so we lose a starter but have a starter waiting to play. (It is my strong belief is that if Talley could have played this season he would have been the starter. Period.).

EMU's team next season will be much better than this year's (team).

JR Sims is the guy I'm really excited about for next year. I actually think he'll be a more efficient SG than DT, with all due respect to Derek (I'll never forget his Ohio game last year). He turned a corner this year offensively, while maintaining his trademark defensive intensity. That kid literally did not give up last night. He was running himself into the ground, even when we were down double figures with less than a minute left.

He's turning into one of my favorite EMU players of all time (I've only been following the team since 2009, so it's a short list, but still...). He plays the kind of game that is easy to cheer for.

Sims is developing his game that is for sure!

I never, truth be told, expected too much from him but he has been a pleasant surprise.
