The FBI has already had access to this database, which is not all financial records, only those reported as suspicious by banks. This has been the case for over 20 years, dating back to the S&L scandals and the Bush I Presidency. The only thing new here is that access will now be easier for the CIA and NSA in their efforts to combat terrorist activities.

Yes, just like they need access to your private e-mails, phone records, Google searches, parking receipts, travel itineraries, bookstore purchases, etc. Without the government having unfettered access to any one of these things, you will surely have your head chopped off by a scimitar-wielding terrorist.

Of course, these are the same folks who consider paying with cash at Starbucks a good enough reason to put you on a terrorist watch list.

To be honest, Americans are getting used to stuff like this happening, Government will justify is however they want to. There is nothing we can do. But dividing the country over that would be the most ridiculous thing to do. Dividing the land is never the solution. It always gets more ugly.

You didn't answer my question.

He essentially just admitted Obama could do anything he wanted to do, and he'd have no problem with it. I wonder, did he feel the same when Bush was in office?

Or whoever Obama deems "terrorists", much like his kill list.

Yes, that is exactly what he said and there is no disputing it.

And he said he didn't take me seriously???? Hilarious. He is the very definition of a useful idiot.

A "tin foil hat" is for a conspiracy theory, there is no conspiracy theory here, it's out in the open and blatant, they feel they can do whatever they want whenever they want and no one can stop them.

This isn't a conspiracy theory, it's fact, unless you think Reuters is lying?

Did he not pass the patriot act? Did people here make threads and cry about it?

I am pretty damn pragmatic. This room is just full of far right extremists, no matter what I say, no one will listen. I bet when Bush passed the patriot act you guys didnt say a word but the same people insist on crying now.

I know, that there is a system of checks and balances in place and he can't do whatever the hell he wants without support from the legislative side.

Yeah, every dictatorship eventually overcame their divided masses. Eventually, those that wouldn't agree were disposed of. The last thing any country needs is dividing up the land to essentially create two separate countries.

Yet another illustration people like you are meant to be ruled. I'm not. You sit there like the good little sheep though.

I don't think you have a clue of what you talking about. Please lay of the crack pipe. Obama got voted in, how is it a dictatorship?

Wrong. There was plenty of screaming and hollering, most conservatives hated it. I didnt but I was in the minority.

I am not the biggest fan of this policy, but there are bigger issues that worry me than this. Also just because the president does something I dont like, I dont scream at the top of my voice to divide the country.
