With 5 seconds to go in the game, was SMU able to get off a reasonable shot, or was it a Hail Mary?

I think it was reasonable, it was just blocked.

Classic Crane. When SMU called a full timeout, there was 4.2 secs left. Officials conferred and changed the clock to 5.1 seconds. Brown called timeout again. Crane said that Bown must have drawn up his 4 second play and when they got the extra second, he called timeout so he could go to his five second play.

Then UAB called timeout after seeing how SMU lined up. At the end of the timeout, Mitchell said that now everyone is out of timeout. Crane said "and Larry Brown is out of dry erase ink, he's had so much time to draw up a play."

also mentioned that Brown had enough time to write a novel.

Real TV or sports bar TV?

CBS Sports Network is sports bar TV to me. I get CSS, NBC Sports Network (formerly Versus), and even the Big 10 Network with our vanilla cable package, but no CBS Sports Network. I think we even used to get it, but Charter moved it to the fancy lineup.

EDIT: It make be a rare standard-definition-only channel.

That's great. Early in the second half, Crane told Steve, "You've been especially hard on the refs this year." Steve retorted, "They've been especially bad this year." Duke Edsall overload!

I think we really take our radio guys for granted sometimes.

I listen to them even when the games are on TV. To me it's the only way to experience UAB basketball (and football) at hope. Sometimes the TV will be on, but it's always muted. They really are great.
