Congrats to Donnie Tyndall on a great year and exceeding expectations. It had to be a close vote and the Golden Eagles are having a year to remember for a long time. I wouldn't have been disappointed or disagreed if Donnie had been named.

Even with a mental bias, I thought that Joe was a no brainer. Well deserved in my opinion, now go get a 3rd tournament MVP award.

I mentioned this before...had Tyndall for COY in the 'I root for' for about 3 weeks now.

DT didn't lose it and JP earned it. It worked for me either way. Kudos to you guys and JP.

It's funny how you reference USM hoops and have always been respectful. I was bashing our fan base last year about attendance because homers were saying we weren't a basketball town. Oh, how things have a tendency to change.

DD will give JJ a run for tourney MVP if all things go as planned.[/size]

I'm going to say it now....we are going to kick y'alls fannies in round 3....lol

We were fortunate in our 2 wins. It's hard to beat a good team 3 times in one year, so I'm expecting a really tough game if we get that far.

Looks to me like quite a few people expected them to finish in the top half of the conference.

In the context of what you said, having a coach that was in the running for coy, with fans thinking he should have won, arguing that USM should get a tourney bid, and best of all, getting into discussions/arguments about all of those things is a healthy sign of support for your bball team.

In some years past, I suspect many could have cared less.

And with Memphis leaving, together with the focus on "beating Memphis", I think bball interest will continue to mature, particularly against foes like LaTech, ODU, UAB, and old rival Charlotte.

Well, I'm sure you noticed the posts on the Memphis board about calling the new conference the Trans-America Conference, which quickly degenerated into the Trannies or the Fabulous Trans-America Conference. lol.

That is what happened in the Women's COY award. ECU was picked to finish 11th, finished 2nd. ECU's Heather Macy won the COY award.

Plus, Pastner had the Player of the Year, the 6th Man of the Year and the Defensive Player of the Year while Tyndall only had the Newcomer of the Year. Which was the harder job to succeed at, i.e. which job required the better coaching job to get the end results?

Understand that I think Pastner did a great job this season. But if they felt the urge to give it to Pastner, they should've made it a co-CoY award with Tyndall.

Or you could look at it from the perspective of Pastner having to work his ass off to gain respect, recruit, and perform.

Right now, I am ashamed to be a USM fan.

I would have been OK with co-CoY awards this year and that would have been reasonable for everyone. The problem is that this award wasn't just a couple of guys getting in a room and deciding who would win. There's a ballot and people vote and the only way that a "co" award is made is if there is a tie.

The location of the tournament can virtually be "bought" by the highest bidder. Awards like this can't, it's up to a panel voters that cast ballots. I can't see how it can be rigged to favor one over the other.....unless those boxes of COHIBA ROBUSTO CAMEROON cigars and envelopes of cash that we sent had any influence. :)

Nothing but respect for Tyndall and the Eagles. Neither you nor the Tigers deserve the rabble-raising thrown out by the OP.

Good luck in Pst-season which I hope means a NCAA bid.
