So I guess you interpret - don't you see these statements funny as me implying he is a horrible person.

I'm sure he's a stand up guy who'll go far, but you'd have to be pretty obtuse to see a dig at UAB in his comments.

Guess we were just "basketball enough" to beat him when he came to town.

He has his opinions and I don't begrudge him them.

It's not mutually exclusive to acknowledge he's a swell guy and that he took a dig at UAB.

It happens.

I see calling him a turd as implying he is one.

He didn't take a shot at UAB. He said it wasn't basketball enough. That's an opinion.

If you put three paint colors on the wall, and say that one is too bright, that one is too dark, and that one is just right, that is your opinion. You aren't taking shots at the other two colors, they just aren't the right fit for you.

I don't see the word turd mentioned by me anywhere in this thread. But I may have missed it since I use it all the time.

Even some Alabama fans are laughing at his comments.

You also have to have a good morning stretch to find a dig at UAB. He answered a question about why he didn't go to UAB. I agree with him. We aren't basketball enough.

And for everyone crowing about our victory over them, you seem to have forgotten that there was a return engagement at Butler in which they won.

The better question is : "How in the Hell did Scott Griffin get another radio gig?" That guy must be very familiar with the underside of the the station GM's desk or be the best radio ad salesman in Birmingham. He has hung around with no talent longer than my college roomate's 2 a.m. pickup that he promised to take home the next day.

Absolutely correct MB. First of all i think Nored is a good kid and was a solid ballplayer. Certainly not a great one. Not getting him here was not that big a deal. However, the issue is whether UAB is "basketball enough". This seems to have touched a nerve. One freaking victory in December mean nothing compared to deep runs in the real tournament. Butler IS better than us. Instead of being mad at Nored we should strive to get our program back to a place where every kid sees UAB as their first choice. When we turn kids down because they are not good enough instead of them turning us down because we are not good enough, then we are back.

IIRC, we played at Butler first, not that it matters.

I read it like other people did. "UAB isn't 'basketball enough' and Tuscaloosa is? Really?"

Did he say that in so many words? No. What he did say is that he didn't go to UAB because UAB wasn't "basketball enough" but that he'd have gone to Tuscaloosa if they'd offered.

That doesn't take much of an intuitive leap, to me.

"Basketball enough" relative to Butler? Sure. Kid's got a point.
"Basketball enough" relative to Tuscaloosa? Sorry. You lost me.

I don't hate the guy. I just have to say "wow".

RE: Scarbinsky talks with Nored.
I also don't recall saying that Butler was or wasn't more basketball than UAB. Some others may have chimed in on it, but I don't see that as the issue here.

See what Scarbinsky did. It is all his fault.

He should have asked the following question & it would have all been resolved.

Was Alabama basketball enough?

Roll Tide!

He said he had two AAU teammates go to Alabama so he probably would have gone there. He also remarked on the atmosphere at UAB games was much better when he was a kid

I would agree with the atmosphere statement.

The AAU statement makes it even more interesting.

Iirc he said he picked wku over UAB because at wku basketball came first (as opposed to football). When the HC left the switched to butler because that school did not have D-1 football, he was born there, and his grandmother lived five blocks from campus.

And I took it that the reason he would have gone to bama is because he was a big football fan. That was unrelated to Butler vs UAB.

I agree. A lot of over reaction. Uab is recruiting athletes who are Alabama football fans. I guess they are Turds too.
