You got it all wrong. My source says Towson is going to jump from the CAA to SEC.

Presser early next week. Bank on it.

RE: ..UCONN to SEC???
Seriously this rumor came out of a NYT piece in which the suggestion of such a move was made tongue in cheek. Then it took on legs. In the last iteration I read it had become the SEC taking six ACC teams to move to 20. The six were Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Connecticut, Virginia, Duke and North Carolina. Could a hybrid deal be in the works for the Irish? Hmm! Stay tuned.

The only scintilla of logic to it would be to parallel the proposed swing into the South via the coast by the Big 10. Such a move would garner equivalent markets for the SEC and keep them in step with Big 10 earnings. I guess one bad idea deserves another is therefore the impetus in keeping this rumor born of a misinterpretation alive.

I think that UConn has a better chance of ending up in the ACC as #16, and soon, than anything else.

Hmmm, Mizzou fails at least three of those criteria.

RE: ..UCONN to SEC???
How about Uconn + Umass to the sec to round it out at 16. Or maybe Delaware would work better than umass, since they were a boarder state during the civil war. IF the sec is thinking out of the box ideas, i kinda like VCU getting an sec invite. The sec could break down into 3 pods of 5 and stick with 14 team football setup. Back to reality, i would agree uconn to the acc for spot 16 could happen anytime but making that move limits other moves. I'm also not sure who they bring in as a football only, navy or BYU? would navy want to play at such a level?, i'm sure byu would accept an acc football only invite. Than you got the setup problems, how to create two 8 team divisions in the acc + you got the worry that getting so complicated could scare off uva to the big 10. Of course, if nd is gonna join full time, than you got none of those issues. I'm not sure uconn would be team 16 if nd would join though, first call to texas. Thus, lots of issues which is the reason uconn hasn't got a bid but espn might just force the issue and let the chips fall if they want to find uconn a home. I'd probably go with uconn spot 16, byu football only for the acc since espn already works with them. I think it would be too hard for navy to play 9 game acc schedule + army, afa, and nd.

RE: ..UCONN to SEC???
I think that ESPN is going to have some say in UConn being admitted to the ACC as the next addition (with or without the ACC losing any schools).

I agree. Over pay a little on the front end maybe 3-4 million a year for 10-15 years, but reap big tax intensives on the back end. I have no doubt UConn will be in the ACC if they lose a few more members.

ESPN will have a lot of say about anybody coming or leaving the ACC. All they have to do is shake a few more million out of their billion dollar piggy bank to solidify the ACC
