Don't miss out on this exciting event. Space is limited and filling up fast!

In four years, Northern Illinois Annual Football 101 Ladies Clinic has become a huge hit with the Huskie fan base. In fact, the "exclusive" nature of the ladies clinic inspired a bit of jealousy from their husbands, sons and men throughout the community who asked, where was their night, their chance to hobnob with the Huskie players and get insider information from NIU coaches?

Well, here it is. On Friday, April 12, Northern Illinois will host the first "X's and O's with the Pros Men's Football Clinic" from 5-9 p.m. in the Jeffrey and Kimberly Yordon Center. Along with NIU Head Football Coach Rod Carey and the Huskie football coaching staff, the event will feature a line-up of Huskie greats, all of whom bring experience as current or former National Football League players.

Three members of the NFL's Indianapolis Colts - Super Bowl winning offensive tackle and 10-year NFL player Ryan Diem, and current Colts Nathan Palmer and Chandler Harnish - along with former Chicago Bears running back Garrett Wolfe and current Atlanta Falcons linebacker Pat Schiller will be on hand for this unique evening. The pros will visit with participants during the social portion of the program, then participate in a Q&A session during the "break out" sessions which also will have attendees moving through different position meeting rooms of the Yordon Center where NIU coaches will break down film, providing a true "insiders' look" into college football.

Cost for the Xs and Os with the Pros Clinic is $125 and includes a social hour with beverages and snacks, the break-out sessions, a tour of the Yordon Center and a free Huskieland season ticket plan for 2013. The Huskieland plan provides a ticket to all five Northern Illinois home games next season AND $50 in "Doggie Dollars" which can be used for parking or concessions at Huskie Stadium.

In order to give every participant the best experience and one-on-one interaction, space for this inaugural event is limited. Register now by calling the Huskie Athletic Support Fund at 815-753-1923 or e-mail huskieathleticsupportfund@niu.edu for more information.

Don't worry ladies, the NIU Football 101 Ladies Clinic will be back for the fifth consecutive year on Wednesday, July 24 from 5-8 p.m. at the Yordon Center. NIUHuskies.com as well as the NIU Huskies Facebook page will have complete information closer to that date.

Here ya go.

My wife says I am the least observant person she has ever known.

My family loves GW too. We went to Bourbonnais to Bears training camp the last season he was with them. We didn't care about any of the "big shots" with the Bears (like Hester at the time) just wanted a chance to re-connect with Garrett. I wore his signed red #1 jersey & he spotted us right away. When practice was over, he came right to us & I took a picture of him with my boys. We have it as an 8x10 framed in our downstairs family room.

He's a super nice kid.

Why would they include Schiller? The experts have decreed that he was no good.

Last I saw, he was signed with Atlanta thru 2013 season. (I think he signed in Jan.)

Should have put in the sarcasm icon. There are some 'experts' here who know more than NFL coaches and scouts. /sarcasm

Only 1 more week!
Hopefully our new president and interim athletic director will make an appearance and our football coach won't be off on a recruiting trip.

Funny, isn't it? Schiller is good enough to stick with one of the better NFL teams for multiple years, yet some say he was "bad" or "not very good" at NIU.

Highly doubt that Dr. Baker will show up. I would expect that he would be back at Idaho U.

You really think Schiller was a good player at NIU? Really? Just because he spent a year on the practice squad in Atlanta doesn't change what I saw at NIU.

Britt had 14 catches for 113 yards and 0 TDs his senior year at NIU and was on the Patriots practice squad when they lost to the Giants in the Super Bowl last year.

The NFL is all about being in the right place at the right time. Otherwise Spann would be at least on a practice squad.

you really think you are better at analyzing and dissecting players abilities better than NFL coaches and scouts, and college football coaches?

I didn't say that. There were way more productive players at NIU who never stuck on a practice squad. It's not just how about well you played in college. Schiller was average at best at NIU.

And college football coaches? He's a backup his senior year (and entire career) if Butler doesn't get hurt. Evidently his college football coaches agreed with me.

Yes.
He led the team in tackling.
