He's has success as an asst to Mooney at two different places. Not a flashy hire, but I'm good with it. Should be familiar with recruiting in the region and competing at the mid-major level.

Not sure how to think. I certainly liked the previous rumors more personally. I guess we'll just have to see.

The last four years Richmond has been a very completive team in the Atlantic Ten. From what I have heard on the board we want a guy who is good with the X and O's. One the things I have heard about Coach McGeehan is that he is a great teacher of the game. That being said its totally different being the head coach.

I do know that McGeehan takes over a program in MUCH better shape then the last time CU had a vacancy. Now we just have to wait and see what happens on the floor.

I am a bit surprised that Campbell didn't go with a more award winning/press conference winning hire, BUT it does show that they dug around a little bit before pulling the trigger. I'd be interested to know (and we never will) how much the salaries for coaching staff have increased. I know Mooney (HC at Richmond is over $400 k/year) so McGeehan had to be near or over $100 k.

Demoted to Director of Ops at Wilmington. He is not head coach material at this point. CU doesn't need to hire anyone that another school wouldn't entertain as a possibility.

No need to hire a guy just because he has cause and 2-8 doesn't scream "good job" to me.

I checked into it a little bit and he is no longer at UNCW. While he was he spent four seasons as assistant coach and one, the first year Buzz Petterson was head coach, as director of OPS. Considering the fact that he was retained by Petterson when he took over, "demoted" sounds a little harsh, especially given that he was promoted to be one of his assistants the next year. Regarding the 2-8 record as interim coach I would say that was pretty good since it came at the end of an awful season that saw the head coach fired with 10 games left. Anyway, he resigned in the summer of 12 to pursue business interests not related to basketball in Greenville NC.
