...The number of people who attended the Northern Illinois/Eastern Michigan men's basketball game in Ypsilanti today.

How can EMU continue to draw like this and remain a Division One school?

I love to rag on BG but realistically, BG's baseball team draws more than this. Their track meets draw far more than this. Women and men's basketball draw far more than this. At any given time during a football game they have more people in the restroom than this.

I wonder how they pay the bills. It is sad because their athletes work hard also and get to play in a near empty stadium or gym.

EMU has one of the most successful athletic programs in the MAC. Its unfortunate that they operate in the shadow of Enormous State University. I can remember packed houses at basketball games and track meets at the old gym. The only sports where they aren't typically competitive are hoops and football. Unfortunately a death knell for programs these days.
