Big East records
Thsi was brought up on our board, so I was curious. You guys kept the Big East name: but what about the Big East history and records? Is that part of it? I ask because the (A-12) is still keeping the Big East orgnaizational records and such. Anyone know?

RE: Big East records
During the UConn-PC telecast Saturday, the announcers said the history will go to the C-7 (along with the name and MSG). I thought I read it in an article on Friday too, but after looking around I can't find mention of it.

RE: Big East records
I'm not sure anyone can stop the C7/BE from claiming the information as their own. I don't think the A12 can claim exclusive intellectual property rights, for instance if they wanted to prevent the C7/BE from including OBE data in their yearbook or website anymore than they could keep ESPN from keeping it off of their website.

I would imagine with what we paid we would get the history. I mean we have the name, the teams and the tournament. I can see us letting them keep the FB history and legacy but BBall should be ours.

Fun fact: The Big XII "owns" the history and records of the Big Eight, but the records didn't carry over. They started a new Big XII recordbook and retired the Big Eight records.

I actually hope the Big East does the same. The old Big East changed so much and this new version should be a stable long term league. I think it would be more interesting to keep new records from day 1 with the new and hopefully long lasting line up of schools.

Either way though I just hope SLU is in fact included in either the first or second year. Should be a fun league with some great games.

The Big East Logo would also look rather nice on the court!

RE: Big East records
No, the records should stay and be continued. Thats what ties the new schools to the old ones. It's the same BBall focused league that started in '79.
