I know nothing of shrimp.. I could really get into a good discussion about crawfish though.

I have heard that leaving the heads on the shrimp give it a better taste.

After the tourney, you or I have to start this thread. I expect La Tech'rs to participate in full. Mudbug central!

...would be nice if Tulaners could do it, but they can't....sorry.

Nothing like some good boiled shrimp and crawfish. I think having shellfish allergies might be the worst damn curse in the world.

I find that you should either dump your shrimp and drain them or pull them out of your boil water quickly. Half proper cooked shrimp and half over cooked is no good. I llike both Zaterans and Old Bay. If you keep your boil and cook several batches of shrimp, I highly suggest having corn on the cob boiling in your pot. Sausage is great in a boil as well. Shrimp should not be in for more than 2 min.

Id have starved by now. Shrimp, either fried or boiled, is a staple in my family at least once a week from May to November. From November to March its steamed oysters. Living on the water definitely has its perks.

I am open to all suggestions on how to boil shrimp. I have been asked to provide a spicy version and a not so spicy version. I don't do a bad job when I boil shrimp, but it could be better, so I thought I would ask for suggestions.

I cut up 2 lemons & put them in the boiling water first for about 3 minutes, then I put the shrimp in the water. So simple & taste great.

old bay seasoning PRO and old bay seasoning REGULAR. Mix half and half -- about a cup per pound. Let shrimp soak for about 10 minutes in the water/old bay.....take out shrimp and bring water to a boil. Turn water temp to low.....put in shrimp and as they begin to float they are done - 1.5 to 3 minutes depending on size of the shrimp. Do NOT rinse.....place in cold water (ice water) to stop the cooking. Ask me to come help eat 'em.
