I apologize for the bs, but this thread topic is important to me....and the introduction of economics was introduced (rightfully so). I hate to engage someone like that and in no way was I slamming a race or culture. I wanted to walk away but could not this time.
...not sure what else to say other than the birds are chirping so it is time to go.

pardon me but do you think passing a law on the topic mentioned which could increase obesity is just political? It is a bill that has passed congress and awaiting the Governors signature which if he does it becomes law barring court appeals. So ease off my friend, it is a fact not politics I mentioned.

first, there wasn't a fact anywhere in that post; the law was passed by the state legislature, not congress, it is not an outright ban on "food regulations" (whatever those turn out to be), and no state law is immune from judicial review. ever.
other than the errors, the rest of the post was clearly and overtly political.

So who's your governor? Michelle?
There should only be one law concerning eating of foodstuffs and that's a law that prohibits people on foodstamps to buy junk food. Buy as many vegetables, fruit, nuts, beans and rice etc. but no sodas, cookies or tater chips or items of that nature. No one is helped by allowing this. All it does is increase obesity and mortality rates but more than not hospital visits which swamp the system because the poor don't have the means of buying insurance.
I blame the Girl Scouts and their cookies. Yummy, good think I can get away with it as I can control how many I eat and not the whole box in one sitting.

I agree with the EBT statement. You buy veggies, fruits, and lean meats.. Not shrimp, steak, etc.

just for the record would you provide your history of being on food stamps and how you gained knowledge of the program? Just wondered how you got so informed on them. Thanks

Working in a grocery store (high school) told me all I needed to know about food stamps.

Never been on them Sarge, but I've bought groceries behind people and their cart is loaded down with junk food, steaks, shrimp, etc., and they don't pull out a mastercard, visa, or cash. It's a card that has EBT on it. And don't let the thing be out of money, because then it's a scene.
Also seafood suppliers will hang signs on the doors of their business saying they accept EBT cards.

RE: OT: Top ten obese states in the USA.....
Also Sarge, I know you and I are from two different generations, however, I was always taught we eat what we need to eat. A steak, seafood (besides fish sticks which are not seafood), or anything above a burger or hotdog is considered a treat and is only gotten when the funds are there to treat yourself.
If I bust my hump for 60+ hours a week and don't eat steak every meal, why should those who sit around and draw government assistance be able to? I'm possibly exaggerating on the every night part.
I'm also more harsh than others. My grandparents always told me if I can't buy it or grow it myself, I didn't need it. They absolutely refused any government assistance. I firmly believe we need to go to that system. Use the EBT card to buy seeds and good luck.
