I disagree and not so much because I care what the teams want. The conference tournament keeps the fans engaged. And inviting all the teams makes it less likely that the lesser seeded teams win it.

Oddly enough though without the tournament we would not have received two bids the last time it occurred (or at least I would doubt it) and Ohio would not have gotten to the sweet 16 or beaten Georgetown. No matter which way you do it you lose something. Going by regular season makes the most sense if you never did the tournament but now that the box has been opened I don't know I would want to give up those chances the tournament has provided.
