ND should just pay it. At this point, it's a bargain.

That's confusing. There have been other articles that say ND has a separate deal that allows them to leave with the C7.

It is confusing. There have been conflicting reports.

My current understanding is that ND would owe zero if it waited 27 months.

If ND leaves before then, the official (maximum possible amount) exit penalty for ND is $5 million.

My guess is that this is not a big deal and an agreement will be announced very soon.

Likely, sometime soon (next week?), the announcement will be made that Notre Dame is moving all of its sports by football and hockey to the ACC for the 2013 season.

What's Notre Dame's share of the existing exit fees? The school did not announce they would leave the Big East until after West Virginia, Pitt, and Syracuse did. So presumably they would have some fraction of that money, just as the Catholic-7 did/do. Those schools essentially waived their rights in the money to leave early. presumably, Notre Dame could work a similar deal.

Correct. Pay the measley $2.5 million and don't let the door hit you in the ass.

1) They might. They probably will.

There is a very slight chance that they may try to negotiate it down, just because they might be able to. (Aresco seems to cave in easily).

2) They won't.

Considering that it's a revolving door, I doubt it will hit anyone anywhere, unless they're really uncoordinated...

I know ND was not a football member, but if I were WVU, I'd be pissed ND got out so cheap.

I agree, but I think that all of the Big East schools, including WVU, agreed to the triple headed exit fee deals the conference had previously entered into with:

1) the football schools;

2) the C7, and

3) Notre Dame

Someone will correct me if I am wrong about the approval of the deals.

If everyone agreed to this beforehand, nobody can really (legitimately) ***** about it.

Lol...the last part of point #1 may as well be our new conference name.

I've been upset with Notre Dame's BEast status since the beginning. This is merely another symptom of what I used to get upset about...

I'm over it now...
