Colerain and Louisville Trinity have a verbal agreement to play a home-and-home football series during Week 3 starting this season, according to Colerain athletic director Dan Bolden.

A contract was signed between the two schools Thursday afternoon, Bolden said. The Cardinals would play at Trinity this season (Sept. 13) and host the Shamrocks in 2014. Both years would be Friday night games.

Colerain (12-1 in 2012) won The Enquirer Division I area coaches’ poll in the regular season. The Cardinals, a regional runner-up, won their 13th consecutive Greater Miami Conference title last season.

Trinity (13-1) won the Class 6A state title this past season in Kentucky. It was the third consecutive state title and 22nd overall for Trinity.

Trinity’s only loss in the 2012 season was to Moeller 45-42 Oct. 27. Moeller went on to win the Division I state title in December.
