I realize that in the article it says that it's 80% of people entering community college and that they need to "relearn remedial skills" not that they are illiterate, I simply just used the headline CBS used in the story.

They have since changed the headline and there is a note in the article saying as much.

Regardless, the actual point remains the same, 80% of NYC grads who go on to community college are barely f.cking literate and have to relearn remedial skills.
