The martyr syndrome is also getting tiresome...
FWIW, yesterday I was extolling all the positives about Marc Loving to all the inquiring o$u minds, at a family function down in Delaware , Ohio...

What's tiresome is ignorant people calling SJJ arrogant, elitists, etc.

For years their recruiting has enabled them to poach a significant number of exceptional athlete from area districts to their campus (Ask Springfield folks, as an example). Their preferential support from the Blade continues (see the earlier references to comparable headline for a SJJ win vs. lets say the Rams). All in all it is easy to see why folks can get tired of their excuses when they dont have the success they want. Look at all of the D1 hoops kids who have come out of there, more than any school by far. You would think that they would have had a much stronger record in statewide competition over the years but they have not. I love the tag line that was used this year saying how SJJ was "undefeated when playing teams in Ohio". Poor Rams could not afford the $$ to travel near and wide to compete on the big stage. When all is said and done, IMHO it is easy to look at SJJ and say, they are an under-achiever that is overrated. True test for them comes in the off season....new coach or not? EH put them behind the old eight-ball on this one. Time will tell and you wont find it covered well in the Blade.

Where did you see that? I haven't seen that, because it is not true. They lost @ Findlay in December, and if I'm not mistaken, Findlay is in Ohio.

And are you guys blind? The game story for Rogers win over SJJ was FRONT and CENTER in the sports section! With the headline in LARGE font: Rams End Titans Run. It wasn't " A single 12 font below the page." as one SJJ hater said.

First off, be honest. I ("the hater" lol ) was referring in both cases (SJJ over Rogers and Rogers over SJJ) to the FRONT PAGE of the on-line, not the sports section.

Did it ever occur to you that they might have CHANGED the headline, much like they did in the case of the girl fight at Scott? Do you really think someone would lie about that?

Listen to others. Don't listen to others. Assume we all have SJJ's demise at heart. However, if you can avoid being defensive long enough and keep an open mind, then one way or the other, you will be involved enough to notice if they stray off the direction you feel they should be on, and you will speak up. You won't be the only ex-johnnie wondering what the heck is happening on Airport and you'll do your share about it.

Seem fair?

Unintelligent post, If Gardner plays different press release.
Same press release. It would still have been considered an upset.

What the heck is happening over there on Airport, they don't even have the nads to just say "congratulations?"

SJJ was AHEAD at the half. They didn't miss the player. Rogers came out of the half better coached and beat SJJ by 17 points in the second half. We're not talking about a close game and SJJ's talent level doesn't fall off that far. The "injured" player wouldn't have made up the difference.

I'm not for the gloating tone I took from the title of the thread but give credit. Rogers did the job. END OF STORY.
Actually 05er,, gloating,, was not the tone from a 16er.
Nothing invested emotionally...

03-confused What the heck does this even mean???

Also, people like to complain about the supposed 'favoritism' that the Blah shows SJJ by supposedly giving them headlines all the time. What about the title of this thread and the first post? The OP doesn't even mention Rogers winning, he just talks about SJJ losing.

Sweet, let's talk about recruiting then. And then the 20/20 program. Lets keep putting down one of the best high schools in the state.

No one should ever question the fact that SJ is an excellent school. Folks who are fortunate to have their kids attend this great education environment should feel like they are giving their kids a great start in life.
But when a public school is able to beat such a school, that is able to bring in many of the athletes, that would have gone to their school, .. it is a neat thing.

Must be an 05er thing. i as a 16er understand advantages and the fact that the little guy occasionally does big things and we need too celebrate it.

You're just going to lead this discussion back into the define "best," which will lead back to the "cherry picking" and if they are so good, why aren't they doing it for those most in need... We've been down that road on other threads.

It's not an argument that a "private" school can "win."

You chose to go to a school with "Saint" in the name and "Men for Others" as a mandate. You can see that might require a little higher expectation of accepting "loss?"

Though your not the one that posted it, can't you see that when someone posts "most likely a COMPLETELY different game," most see that as sour grapes? As saying, SJJ would have (not "might have") won? SJJ won against Rogers with a full compliment of players by only 7 on their home court. They got shellacked by 17 in a half on a neutral court. The injured player's average was only 5 points more than his replacement. His replacement did an admirable job. SJJ would unlikely have won that game with the missing player in full health. Our "best" Toledo team is still in play-offs.

I don't know your personal experience, but I have not personally seen any school in this city attacked for "arrogance" like I have SJJ. Not Notre Dame, not St. Ursula, Not Ottawa Hills. Maybe Bowsher, lol. Not even Maumee Country Day and if this was even REMOTELY about jealousy, then MVCD would be most susceptible to charges of arrogance. They aren't. SJJ is.

Take it for what it's worth. We did our best to let you know the perception held by a whole lot of this town. You're a great poster and a loyal UT fan as is MBG. I can see why you would take this discussion personal but it's really not about YOU or MBG or any one SJJ grad.

Peace and Go ROGERS!!!!

You're looking very childish MBG with this "hater" stuff.

You won't find a single post or comment where I wished SJJ ill. You are displaying the epitome of arrogance, trying to play the victim.

You continue to make our case for us and you don't even seem to see it or it's all a game to you. There are kids going to SJJ that don't get to live on the silver spoon you do. They have to actually live in the neighborhood and deal with the grief the stereotype you encourage brings on them.

I never said you wished ill on SJJ. You can still loathe, hate, dislike, etc. something, but not wish ill on them (just like I dislike bgSUCKS, but I do not wish ill will on them [other than that I want them to lose in sports, if you want to call that 'wishing ill' on them]). And I'm not playing the victim; that would be you, who tries to belittle SJJ because they are selective in who they let in. You try to portray SJJ and other parochial schools as the bad guy because they are able to be selective in who they let in.

Yes, act like you know me and say I grew up with a silver spoon. You know nothing about me, other than that I went to SJJ and UT. I can GUARANTEE you that I grew up with some challenges that practically no one else had to grow up with, and I bet many others would run away from. Also, while at UT, I worked multiple jobs (working 30+ hours a week) while taking a full course load (15+ credit hrs). So, please, tell me how I grew up with a silver spoon. So STFU and stop making yourself look like an @ss.

And I remember when you used to post on JJHuddle and you would try to play the whole Public vs. Private debate there, too. I never agreed with your opinions there, and never have here.
