Hey Niner National, you may want to do a little homework. Look the attached list of the schools with the most basketball victories. You might find that your next addition from the Sun Belt has a little basketball tradition.

What's interesting is that 9 of the 14 schools were former Sun Belt Members at some point.

The modern sun belt is a shadow of its former self

I'm talking as a basketball conference there was some really good teams back in the 80's in that league

they have more NCAA appearances than Memphis (unless you are a Memphis fan). see they have 4 NCAA berths that don't count anymore due to cheating

Probably because the Sun Belt programs (since 2001) have place a much stronger emphasis on football and football is expensive (those boys can eat).

Point is, the Sun Belt has gone from an FCS equivalent to a real threat to anyone they play, week in and week out. Case in point, MTSU waxing Ga Tech last year in Atlanta.

To the Sun Belt joiners of C-USA. Would you say this is an upgraded conference to what we've known for the better part of the last decade? I think the legacy C-USA members are going to be surprised at how strong some of our programs have become.

From a current, soon to be prior member, i'd say it is a definite step up in competition in the New C-USA from the sunbelt. I'm not sure it will be as strong as it was with Houston/UCF/ECU (USM can make a come back), in football, but its a step up over playing in the currernt sunbelt without a doubt. I don't know much about the florida teams, but it seems like MTSU and LaTech are programs who are on the rise.

I agree. Just like the A12 will be weaker than the old BE and better than the current CUSA, the New CUSA will be better than the current Belt and weaker than the current CUSA. If they stay intact for 3 to 5 years they could be close to what they were before but they will need some time.

It's GT in the ACC, good win but let's not act like GT is Alabama or LSU.

My only regret is that MTSU won't have Memphis to kick around after this year. ODU or Charlotte may fill that void.

No smack intended. My only knowledge of ODU pertains to what they have accomplished in Women's BB.

Wow. Really? From a school that doesn't even have a program yet.

Not many people in the SEC are beating Alabama or LSU right now and you want to make that comparison? With a school that beat USC in their bowl game? 01-wingedeagle

Let me know when you guys stop the triple option on a team with BCS caliber skill players and offensive linemen. No, it wasn't Alabama but it was a damn good win. Not sure how you can insinuate anything otherwise. Maryland, UVA, and Vandy can relate too. BTW, we had Bama beat a few years back (05 I think) until they got one of those calls that only Bama gets and we ended up losing late 39-35 instead of winning a game that could only be reversed by the $EC so yeah we're a threat to whomever is on our schedule.

No anti-smack intended. You have a great program, one that our team aspires to be competing with. I think most ODU fans would need new underwear if we beat an ACC team this year, like you did last year.

I'm well aware, but you guys aren't officially in yet. Also, your addition means we are losing Tulsa, a fairly strong basketball program...so not as much of a net gain as losing a cellar dweller and adding a competitive program.

I disagree with my Charlotte brethren on this one. MTSU beat the crap out of GA. Tech. They absolutely destroyed them. That was a quality win anytime.

I don't think this is a knock on WKU. I think he's saying that you guys aren't in the conference yet.

Yes they did and by running it right down GT's throat. Benny Cunningham had 217 yards rushing and 5 TD's.
