Just think, if ETSU had of kept its football program, instead of a plan to restart FCS football, Dr Noland could very well be developing a plan to take ETSU to the FBS level. Sun Belt schools have athletic budgets ranging from $11 to $20 million a year. The current fee increase request before the TBR will place ETSU's athletic budget somewhere in the middle of that Sun Belt range. It's $12 million now, it will go to near $16 million then. In other words, ETSU continued spending money as if it had an FCS football program these past ten years, as if it was actually growing that program to a point that FBS level football would have been the next logical step at this time in its athletic history. Instead, look how Paul Stanton and Dave Mullins spent those millions and where they left the athletic program.

And, obviously no one was listening, and these folks robbed the university for their own personal agendas and NOT what was in the best interest of ETSU.

In large part they didn't listen because they silenced the messenger and the local media allowed it.

Ageee, the local media was obviously in their back pocket from day one. Even as an outsider, it always appeared to me to be an intentional cover-up because nobody could be that dumb so as to miss what was going on. Now, how will they respond and report ETSU athletic as their cronies disappear and with a new sheriff in town with a new agenda, an agenda alien to the previous one, the one they were obviously aligned with?

They never challenged the claims of the ETSU administration, they never pressed for an explanation of the inconsistencies and outright falsehoods put forth, and they never did any investigative work to see why the dropping of football did not save any money or elevate the basketball program. They did not do their job. They've looked like a mouthpiece of the ETSU athletic media office these past ten years.

Pretty sure his comment was directed at Marky patting himself on the back.

That's not why I said that... I get that Kelly/Joe have been in ETSU's back pocket, they're squatters. It's the same reason why the product at WCYB isn't worth a crap anymore. Way too many squatters. They've hired young people who have no ambition to be anything more than small market reporters/anchors. They don't have to seek out stories, just fill the time with city council meetings and useless stuff.

I was watching one of the local stations the other day. ABC I think. They were bragging how everybody on the news staff is local, from either Upper East Tennessee or Southwest Virginia.

Crappy T just restarted its' news. Some nice people on there and hopefully they'll get it going again. Some good homegrown ETSU folks on there.

Ok, but in my neck of the woods, these folks would be run through a meat grinder and spit out on the sidewalk for not doing their jobs. Still say it was intentional to at least a certain degree -- for whatever local, internal, secret, unspoken reason they failed to be journalists.

That's not how it works up there at all. Not at all.
