RE: New sheriff in town for ECU
I believe this is his correct work history in an easier to digest form:
James Madison University (played football) - bachelors - 1980
Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania - masters - 1982
NC State - Assistant Director of Housing and Residence Life - 1982-86
NC State - Assistant Athletic Director - 1986-92
NC State - Director of the Chancellor's Circle - 1993-94
NC State - Assistant to the Chancellor - 1994-96
Vanderbilt - Associate and then senior associate athletic director - 1996-2000
Western Carolina University - AD - 2000-04
University of Washington - Executive Associate Athletic Director - 2004-05
NIU - AD - 2005-13
I believe that is correct, but some conflict/assumptions get in the way

Maybe this sheriff can stop streakers*. Whatever happened to that kid? I lost track of the story after they fired the sponsor of the student paper for running a front page picture of the kid's dork.
*I am somewhat ashamed to admit that that is still one if the funniest things I've seen at a college football game.

LOL... I'll never forget that sight (although I wish that I could). What a dumba$$.
This looks to be a solid hire.

Any hire was going to be disapointing compared to the resume Holland had before coming: 2 time Final 4 coach, USA national basketball commitee, Chairman of NCAA selection committe, AD at Davidson and UVA etc there probably aren't 2 or 3 guys with a resume like that in the nation even. That said I like him and better than the other finalist. He has been an AD at both Northern Illinois and Western Carolina so there is some experience at different places, and he's worked at places like NC State and Vandy. Probably knows the area well for being at NC State so long and what a school like ECU will deal with from being at NIU and WCU.

He was from Raleigh, and went to the community college there. He was banned from campus, but IIRC, was caught again on campus. Weird situation.
I actually had a buddy on the field who was in ROTC. He said he was seconds away from tackling him in his full dress.

I was in the band and we were exiting the field when the streaker ran through. Only situation in my life where I didn't know what to do.

Well, I'm sure there are plenty of current ADs at power programs with resumes as good or better than Holland, but none as good at non-AQ schools. The real question to ask yourself about the new AD is, did the athletic programs at NIU improve in quality and national prominence under his watch? I'd say the answer is a resounding "Yes" and that makes this an excellent hire.

I would add, did that occur without any or future NCAA infraction. Which, I believe, isn't the case.

I got it right the first time. I think Holland resume and ultimately now his legacy was even beyond what most any administrators you can find bring. He was a highly successful coach, Chairman of the NCAA selection committee, USA basketball committee, other NCAA committee's and AD at Davidson and UVA. That's as deep and unique a resume as I think you will find. There might be a couple former coaches that are AD's, Barry Alvarez or whatever but there aren't many that also have chaired committee's and been successful at multiple schools. The guy had a hell of a legacy before he ever got here. He will be a tough act to follow here with our fanbase.

FYI......ECU Chan. Dr. Ballard just stated on a local radio station interview announcing the new AD that ECU would be a full member of nBE and the league would go to 12 members.

One of our asst. football coaches who worked for him at WCU said Compher was an outstanding AD with with outstanding leadership and organization. Also new AD stated he lived in Greenville while working for NC State (gotter love it) and his first son was won in Greenville (Pitt....ECU School of Medicine).

Your a ******* idiot. Read again dumb***. I said he was a great hire, I like him, but it would be hard for anyone to follow Holland. Just taking the last chance to give Holland a little respect because there isn't another one of him. Work on your sorry ass reading skills.
