With the other college conferences that have a deal with Fox having virtually no east coast footprint (except WVU in the Big XII), there could be a fair amount of time open for basketball games on television played in the 7/7:30 time slot. That will probably change though once the Big East signs its deal with Fox.

Big East Monday will be on FS1 now instead of ESPN. That still leaves us our Wednesday nights for now. We'll have to share Saturdays.

Anything for Charlotte has to be an improvement over the A10 tv "deal"

The ESPN3 competitor Fox is launching should help too. It's not TV, but I'll take it.

Not sure if some of you realize the impact this can have on CUSA. This news is huge.

In a few years ESPN may have a real rival on their hands. They have really never seen CSTV/CBSC a rival but more of a nucence that took a game or 2 away. If Fox does do a Fox1 and Fox 2, and have a internet stream set up to rival ESPN3. ESPN has really never had to bid for programing they really wanted.

Quote:• FOX Sports 1 will tap into FOX production studios in New York, Los Angeles, and Charlotte.

Looks like production will be distributed over NYC (Fox News Studios?), Charlotte (SPEED) and LA (Fuel TV).

RE: Hello, Fox Sports 1
The days of Fox and ESPN being cutthroat rivals like they were previously might actually be gone, likely because of how much of the 'big' inventory they share amongst common partners (NFL, MLB, BCS conferences, and potentially the NBA when its big deal comes up in a few years).
http://www.sportsbusinessdaily.com/Journ...N-Fox.aspx

Still, an alternative to ESPN is welcomed, just to have that near-monopoly brought down somewhat.

I am not talking about Fox News' political viewpoint--that would be a different forum--but they came in and took on CNN's cable news monopoly and have trounced them. Fox seems to know how to come from behind and win big so it will not surprise me if they give ESPN all they can handle.

The Fox Sports headquarters is going to be about 4 miles from Charlotte's campus. We hope this works in our favor.

It should be good thing for all universities in state of NC. ECU has a big Pirate Club membership and following in Charlotte. ECU plays every other year in Panthers Stadium and Belk Bowl was a big support for ECU into the nBE. I was surprise to see UNCC was the third largest university in enrollment behind NC State and ECU. What was more surprising UNCG was fourth and UNCCH fifth. Anyway, all our universities in NC (lower divisions, too) will benefit from this development.

Fox News and Fox Sports are both owned by the same corporation, and as for Fox News ratings, since the election Fox News has taken a major hit in the ratings falling by as much as 40% while MSNBC has had an 18% increase. Fox News still has the lead in cable news but MSNBC is catching up and CNN is under a new leader who is not likely going to do anything to turn their ratings around due to the fact most on the left and the right agree CNN is pathetic. Fox News broke off with Sara Palin, and Carl Rove as well as Dick Morris but added Herman Cain so their additions and omissions is hard to figure out, but shows potential of Fox News going more to the right. Roger Ailes is the one who told Nixon he shouldn't hate the media and not dread them but work to turn them into an instrument for the right. Ailes is the one who sets the standards for Fox News.

So you possibly playing in the Belk Bowl one out of every five years was why you got in the Big East?

UConn, USF, and Cincy have all played in the bowl and have traveled like crap and other than ECU I don't see any other teams that will improve those numbers.

Doesn't hurt. Without ECU, the BE had nobody that would travel well to the Belk Bowl. If ECU remained in CUSA, I bet Belk would have moved the tie-ins to CUSA.

Why the hate.......ECU was a big supporter for UNCC into Cusa. The question is not will ECU play Belk Bowl once every five years but we do know if we stayed in Cusa the Belk Bowl was not a part of its Bowl lineup. (Fact.....we all have to accept). Hopefully in five years we will be playing each other in Panthers Stadium.

Will be happy to play you guys but not in BoA. No money or advantage for us in playing there.
